WEST SIDE STORY producers announced today the recoupment of the show's $14 million investment after running only 30 Weeks (247 performances). The smash hit revival opened on Broadway Thursday, March 19, 2009 and began previews Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Palace Theatre, where it holds the house record for highest weekly gross. A national tour of this production of WEST SIDE STORY will begin in the fall of 2010.

Actor TONY PLANA who plays Betty's (AMERICA FERRARA) father on the ABC-TV hit 'UGLY BETTY' was there with his wife, actress ADA MARIS and their daughter, ISABEL (PLANA). Actress ANITA GILLETTE (who appeared in FLAMINGO COURT at New World Stages) was also there. WEST SIDE STORY has a new 'Riff' in John Arthur Greene. The actor, already making his Broadway debut as a swing in the show, takes over the role from Cody Green. Greene played his first official performance in the role last night, August 4th.
Following the August 3rd performance of The Toxic Avenger, legendary bass guitarist Tony Levin, best known for his work with progressive rock pioneers King Crimson and Peter Gabriel, as well as for his playing on hundreds of albums including Cher, Alice Cooper, John Lennon, Stevie Nicks and Lou Reed, paid a backstage visit to meet the cast and band. He posed for photos and even signed the bass guitar of Dan Grennes, the show's bass guitarist. Rock on!
