TACT/The Actors Company Theatre, the critically acclaimed company voted 'Company of the Year' by The Wall Street Journal, will celebrate its 21st Anniversary of presenting 'neglected or rarely produced works of literary merit' at its annual Spring Gala on Tuesday, April 29th atThe University Club (One East 54th Street). The celebratory evening will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception featuring the popular 'Pick-a-Prize' Raffle, where attendees can select which prize they want to win, followed by dinner and live auction featuring celebrity auctioneer David Silvermanat 7:30 p.m.

I can't say that I've ever read much of Agatha Christie's work, I'm more inclined toward the convoluted and pulpy prose of Raymond Chandler myself. But, there's no denying the staying power of her play, THE MOUSETRAP, which is still running in Britain since its opening in 1952. It's become an institution, and has influenced countless writers with its mix of quirky characters and deliberately misleading red herrings. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis is presenting this classic mystery in a splendidly performed production, and it's a perfect holiday treat that engages and entertains.

The theatre scene in St. Louis in 2010 turned out to be another year filled with fine productions and superb performances. Despite the economic barriers faced by all the local theatre companies many continued to take risks, presenting material that challenged audience expectations, but entertained them as well. And so, I'm presenting my own top ten of 2010, to honor the shows that beguiled and entranced me this past year.
