The Old Globe presents the first show of its 2017-2018 Season, the world premiere musical Benny & Joon, with book by Kirsten Guenther, music by Nolan Gasser, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein. Based on the beloved 1993 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture written by Barry Berman and Leslie McNeil, Benny & Joon is directed by Jack Cummings III, Artistic Director of New York's Transport Group.

Ken Ludwig's ROBIN HOOD! Extends Again at The Old Globe

The Old Globe today announced that due to popular demand, the exciting Globe-commissioned world premiere comedy Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood! has now extended again, through September 10! This is the second and final extension for the hit show, which previously announced a one-week addition through September 3. The production plays in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Single tickets start at $45 and are on sale now.

The Globe Guilders are pleased to announce their annual fashion show and luncheon, Celebrating Couture 2017, presented by Neiman Marcus, to benefit The Old Globe's artistic and arts engagement programs. Once again this year, Neiman Marcus is producing The Art of Fashion, an exclusively curated show featuring the Fall collections, including both couture and pret-a-porter, of a special group of designers.Celebrating Couture 2017 will take place on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the Costa Del Mar Ballroom of the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

The Old Globe today announced the complete company and creative team for the Pam Farr Summer Shakespeare Studio, named for a Globe board member whose generosity supports a four-week program for rising 9th - 12th grade students and recent high school graduates to develop foundational skills for reading, interpreting, and performing Shakespeare's plays, and to cultivate their own artistic voice through storytelling and creating original material.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for William Shakespeare's exhilarating tragedy Hamlet, one of the greatest plays ever written. The Globe's Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein returns to the outdoor festival stage, with a cast featuring some of the nation's finest classical actors, to bring Shakespeare's iconic play to life. Revenge thriller, ghost story, psychological drama, political epic, and family saga, all packed in one, with unforgettable characters, theatrical masterstrokes, and world-famous lines. The Prince of Denmark comes home from college to find his father dead, his mother remarried to his uncle, and a spine-chilling apparition roaming the palace grounds. Hamlet plays August 6 - September 10, 2017, in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Previews run August 6-11, with opening night on Saturday, August 12 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at $30 and are on sale now to the general public.

The Old Globe's Arts Engagement department invites friends, flappers, jitterbugs, and all of San Diego to our latest free AXIS event, Swing Out at the Globe, on Saturday, July 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on the Globe's Copley Plaza, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center in Balboa Park, preceding the 2:00 p.m. matinee of Guys and Dolls.
