The 2016 Boston Pops season opens and closes with the debuts of two widely popular artists from the entertainment world: TONIGHT, May 6, the season opens with Seth MacFarlane singing American Songbook classics from the '40s and '50s; the season closes on June 17 and 18 with Brian Wilson performing Pet Sounds, widely acclaimed as one of the greatest albums of all time.
Paper Mill Playhouse will partner with The Harmony Show Choir and the RockNRoll Chorus for a three-stop-only tour, Vocal Ovation, A Show Choir Extravaganza this May. The evening will feature performances by the Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir, The Harmony Show Choir and the RockNRoll Chorus. This is the second year for the Vocal Ovation tour. Last season, the three ensembles played to sold out crowds in South, Central and North Jersey.
Lincoln Center Out of Doors, one of the country's longest-running free outdoor summer festivals, opens this year on July 20 and runs through August 7, with a post-festival special event on August 13. In Lincoln Center's continuing commitment to making the arts available to all, the 46th edition of the popular festival will fill the plazas with a diverse range of music, dance, spoken word, and family events, featuring dozens of U.S., international, and local artists.

Marc Shaiman and his partner Lou Mirabal were married today, at the end of Lieutenant Commander Mirabal's retirement ceremony, honoring his more than 20 years of service to our country. After BroadwayWorld launched its New York Cabaret Awards in 2012, the cabaret section's editors realized that the selected categories and the popular vote nature of the election didn't adequately recognize some great performances and shows for that particular year. So in 2013, BWW added "Editor's Choice Awards" to the mix to not only reward special performances but also to acknowledge people who have helped grow cabaret and foster the spirit of the art form. This year, BWW New York Cabaret Editor Stephen Hanks and his reviewing staff-including Alix Cohen, David Clarke, Billie Roe, Rembert Block, and John Hoglund-selected seven stars of cabaret for this special honor.
