Theatre East honored Richard Mawe with the 2017 Laurette Taylor Award on Monday, May 15th in New York City. Richard Mawe, an ardent supporter of the arts, served for decades as a teacher and Board President at HB Studio where he studied with Herbert Berghof and Uta Hagen. Theatre East Board of Directors presents Richard Mawe with the 2017 Laurette Taylor Award on Monday, May 15th at Cafe Tallulah, 240 Columbus Ave, in the Upper West Side. The benefit starts at 7pm with an exclusive cocktail reception. Tickets start at $100. The evening will include tributes, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, entertainment, and an auction.
The 5X5 Drama Series was founded in 2016 with the idea of bringing performances beyond the footlights of the theater and into non-traditional spaces like breweries, rooftops, apartments, taverns, and more to provide a unique immersive audience experience.
One of the most popular and longest running performance events in the country, FronteraFest, returns for its 24th year. A collaboration between Hyde Park Theatre and ScriptWorks, the Fest runs from January 17th through February 18th (Short Fringe, featuring pieces 25 minutes or less) at Hyde Park Theatre, 511 West 43rd Street, (B.Y.O.V., Bring Your Own Venue) January 25th - February 5th, held at multiple locations and Mi Casa es Su Teatro for one day only on February 11th primarily in private homes (see website to purchase tickets, view full schedule and location details www.hydeparktheatre.org). The Long Fringe, which traditionally hosted pieces over 45 minutes has been canceled for the first time, due to the theatrical venue crisis in Austin.
