Casting is now complete for the inaugural REPRISE 2.0 production of Sweet Charity. Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, the classic Broadway hit plays from June 20 to July 1 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. 

In July, The Village Light Opera Group will present On The Twentieth Century at the Riverside Theatre (91 Claremont Avenue).

David Burnham, Broadway star of Wicked, The Light in the Piazza, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, will bring his acclaimed one-man show, Mostly Broadway, to Feinstein's at the Nikkofor two performances only-Friday, July 27 (8 p.m.) and Saturday, July 28 (8 p.m.). In Mostly Broadway, David takes audiences on a musical journey with songs and tales from the Great White Way and beyond!

Every once in a while, a person is born who is destined to influence the world in ways yet to be seen. But once in a blue moon there comes a man who gains fortune and fame for simply being someone who people connect with, who speaks the truth, and who does his best to make the world a better place than he left it. One such man is the sage from Oologah ,Oklahoma, William Penn Adair Rogers. As time passes, fewer and fewer people are alive who had first-hand experience reading Will Rogers' column, listening to him on the radio, or seeing his films. It is for that reason, that we are lucky a show like THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES exists, and even luckier that Goodspeed Musicals chose it for the opening production of its 2018 season. Telling his life story over the course of a Ziegfeld follies extravaganza (another thing that many today have no memory of), this dazzling, colorful, and heartwarming musical takes audiences on a journey from rags to riches with America's "Cowboy Philosopher".

Sweet Charity explores the turbulent love life of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopelessly romantic, but comically unfortunate dance hall hostess in New York City.

By popular demand, pianist David Lahm returns to share more songs and stories about his mother, Dorothy Fields, considered by many to be America's leading female lyricist. Cabaret singer Julie Budd joins Lahm for a special guest performance, along with Harvey Granat.

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, announces the lineup of productions for its 25th Anniversary Season in 2018/19, which will feature eight productions including world premieres, musicals, modern classics, and theater for family audiences.

Casting is announced for two REPRISE 2.0 productions with two Tony Award leading actress nominees: Laura Bell Bundy (Legally Blonde - Tony Nomination, Hairspray, Anger Management) is to play Charity in Sweet Charity, directed and choreographed by three time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall from June 20 to July 1, and Carmen Cusack (Bright Star - Tony Nomination, Wicked) is to play Victoria Grant in Victor/Victoria directed by Richard Israel and choreographed by John Todd from September 5 to 16 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse.

Straight from the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, many medal-winning figure skaters that competed in Pyeongchang will be teaming up with some Canadian greats to form an extraordinary cast that will perform across Canada in the STARS ON ICE tour. Beginning in 1991, the Canadian tour once featured skating legends Kurt Browning and Brian Orser, and has continued ever since with many beloved people from the figure skating world over the years.

Ghostlight Records has announced that PRINCE OF BROADWAY Original Broadway Cast Recording is available in physical, digital and streaming formats today, Friday, April 20. The 16-page CD booklet includes color production photography and liner notes by Hal Prince and David Thompson.

BroadwayWorld has a first look at Goodspeed's THE Will Rogers FOLLIES! Telling the life story of humorist Will Rogers, the Tony-Award winning musical features a book by Peter Stone, lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, and music by Cy Coleman.THE Will Rogers FOLLIES begins performances on April 13th and will run through June 21st.

NYU Steinhardt will host the NYU Educational Theatre Forum 2018: Performance as Activism-a three-day event featuring conversations, presentations, workshops, and performances bringing together scholars and artists exploring how performance can spark dialogue and promote social change (April 19-21).

Vocalist Rachel Ulanet, who has appeared on Broadway as Belle in Beauty and the Beast, as well as Lovemusik and King David,  makes her Feinstein's/54 Below solo debut with Keep Me Searching. Ulanet's funny and provocative reflection on our changing political and social landscape is supported by a strong and timeless repertoire. Performing music from Stevie Wonder, Kurt Weill, Bonnie Raitt, Michel Legrand and Neil Young, among others, Ulanet explores our shared experiences during these unusual times, and their effect on her life as an artist, mother and citizen. Directed by Julie Reyburn (Sondheim Unplugged, multi-MAC, Bistro, and Nightlife Award winner), Keep Me Searching features a trio headed by Musical Director/pianist Matt Baker, with Ray Marchica on drums and Michael Blanco on bass. David Burnham will entertain his audience with tales from the Great White Way and beyond singing favorite tunes from Broadway and the American Songbook. Featuring songs from Wicked, Jersey Boys, Cabaret, Chicago, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The King And I, Guys and Dolls, and more. Musical direction is by Mark Vogel. 

There will a discussion and signing for BIG DEAL: Bob Fosse and Dance in the American Musical by Kevin Winkler on Thursday, 10th at 5pm at the The Drama Book Shop 250 West 40th St. (bet B'way & 8th Ave). Noted author Ken Bloom joins Kevin to discuss the book. With his trademark hunched shoulders, turned-in stance, and stuttering staccato jazz movement, Fosse was the groundbreaker in the development of choreography for the Broadway musical. The book is a fascinating look at the evolution of the man as a choreographer and director.
