Community Matters is a series of free events presented in partnership between People's Light and numerous local organizations to spark dialogue about vital issues in our community. Performed readings of new plays are the centerpiece of each evening. They are followed by a discussion with the artists, community partners, and special guests.
After a July premiere in Philadelphia, sbgProductions & Faux Real Entertainment will present the New York Premiere of DIVINE/INTERVENTION as part of the New York International Fringe Festival. This new play by E. Dale Smith based on an original concept by Mimi Imfurst (RuPaul's Drag Race) with direction by Braden Chapman (aka Imfurst), will run August 16 - 29 at The Lynn Redgrave Theater.
The Timeline Projects has announced the cast for the world premiere of Victor Lesniewski's (Khardal, Berkeley Rep; Cloven Tongues, The Wild Project) Civil War spy thriller, Couriers and Contrabands, developed with and directed by Kareem Fahmy (The In-Between, Noor Theatre; Asst. Director Once, New York Theatre Workshop). Couriers and Contrabands will play a four week limited engagement at the TBG Theatre (312 W 36th Street, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10018). Performances begin Saturday, September 5th and continue through Saturday, September 26th, 2015 . Opening Night is Friday, September 11th at 8:00 pm. Brian Ogilvie (Gigi, Mary Poppins) stars in Stalker: The Musical, a satirical new show, that will run August 14 - 26 as a part of the New York Fringe Festival. The production will be the only Australian entry accepted into the festival, which features over 150 shows. Set in a dystopian world where love has been eradicated and lust is celebrated, Stalker: the Musical is a dark comedy that follows the story of Jay Cloudstreet, who finds himself unusually and illegally drawn to one particular girl.
CitySalt Theatricals proudly presents the new musical The Crack in the Ceiling, presented as part of the 19th Annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC. Featuring book, music, and lyrics by James Harvey, directed by Stephen Tyler Davis.

Single Room Occupancy, a new pop/rock comedy musical will be presented as part of the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival on August 14, 17, 20, 21 and 27. Written by and starring popular theatre, film and television actor Ben Rauch (HBO's Girls, Jersey Boys-The Movie, Gossip Girl), Single Room Occupancy has lyrics by Gaby Gold, Rory Scholl, and Ben Rauch, set design by You-Shin Chen, lighting design by Suzanne Immarigeon, sound design by Joshua D. Reid, choreography by Jebbel Arce, musical direction by Noriko Sunamoto and will be directed by Joey Murray. The musical will run at the Lynn Redgrave Theatre at Culture Project (Venue #13), 45 Bleecker Street (at Lafayette) for five shows only.
A haunting new world premiere drama, THE REPORT, will be presented August 15 - 28 in the New York International Fringe Festival. Based on the novel by Jessica Francis Kane, THE REPORT is adapted by Martin Casella, whose THE IRISH CURSE earned the Outstanding Playwriting Award in the 2005 FringeNYC and went on to a highly acclaimed Off-Broadway run. The director is Alan Muraoka, whose credits include FALSETTOLAND (NAATCO), KARAOKE STORIES and 'Sesame Street.'
