2010 Craig Noel Award Nominees Announced

The San Diego Theatre Critics Circle has announced the nominees for the 2010 Craig Noel Awards, which will be unveiled at a ceremony in La Jolla on Jan. 10, 2011.

Change of Plans To Air On Fox 1/8/2011

Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) and Walmart (NYSE: WMT) will premiere their latest made-for-TV family movie, 'Change of Plans,' starring Brooke White, Joe Flanigan and Phylicia Rashad on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 8/7c on FOX.

THE COMPOSER IS DEAD Comes To Berkeley Rep, Previews 11/26

This holiday season, Berkeley Repertory Theatre presents a deliciously silly world premiere from beloved Bay Area artists: Lemony Snicket's The Composer is Dead begins previews in the Roda Theatre on November 26, opens December 2, and closes January 15.

STAGE TUBE: La Jolla Playhouse's RUINED

La Jolla Playhouse presents the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined, by Lynn Nottage (Intimate Apparel, Crumbs from the Table of Joy), directed by South Africa native Liesl Tommy, in the Mandell Weiss Theatre November 16 - December 19 (media night: Sunday, November 21 at 7:00 pm). Ruined is a co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theatre and the Huntington Theatre Company.

Oregon Shakespeare Festival Announces its 2010 Season

The Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival will celebrate its 75th anniversary this season, and while patrons will notice celebratory signs and banners as well as opportunities to sit in on historical lectures and talks throughout the season, the primary celebration is onstage. OSF has promised its audiences, to whom it has dedicated this milestone season that it will continue to focus energies on producing great plays this year.

In THE NANJING RACE, Philip (Marcus Ho), a gay Japanese-American businessman, visits Nanjing China in 1988. Yu Ahn (Ian Wen), a hotel 'floor-boy' befriends Philip in the hope of being sponsored to go to America. But it is Bao (James Chen), another floor-boy, who intrigues Philip. Trapped in their social and racial identities, the three men struggle to come to terms with their desires and prejudices. THE NANJING RACE depicts an intimate culture-clash at an intriguing moment in recent Chinese history.

La Jolla Playhouse announces the first four plays of its 2011/12 Season, including the Playhouse co-commissioned Milk Like Sugar, by Kirsten Greenidge, directed by Rebecca Taichman; the world-premiere of A Dram of Drumchhicit, by Arthur Kopit and Anton Dudley, directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley; Peer Gynt, by Henrik Ibsen, adapted and directed by David Schweizer; and American Night: The Ballad of Juan José by Richard Montoya for Culture Clash, directed by Jo Bonney. The final two subscription shows of the 2011/12 season - both musicals - will be announced shortly.
