During his decade at the helm of 'American Idol,' Nigel Lythgoe beat the idea of theme weeks into a bloody, self-parodying pulp. However, tonight, Uncle Nigel is bringing a theme to 'So You Think You Can Dance' for the first time (as far as I can remember); and it is one that I can actually get behind. For tonight's Top-8 edition, each routine will be performed to a Michael Jackson song; either one of his classics, or a single from his 'new' album 'XScape.'

With the Top-10 being joined by an incredible cast of All-Stars, this week's episode brought about as much excitement as a dance fan can handle. Each dancer was, more or less, paired with an All-Star inside their genre, and nearly all of the 10 couples delivered excellent routines. That being said, a few left me disappointed.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Final Four Recap WITH PHOTOS: Best Show of the Year

I have been pretty vocal with my feeling that the entertainment value of this season of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE has been lacking a bit. However, while there still hasn't been a singular defining moment this season, as the numbers dwindled, the entertainment skyrocketed. Tonight was the most enjoyable evening of reality television that I have seen in a long, long time. With the final-four dancing 14 routines, in every imaginable combination, we were treated to a remarkable evening that had very few missteps.

STAGE TUBE: Jesse Tyler Ferguson on His Emmy Nomination
by Nicole Rosky
- Jul 15, 2011
Waves of good and bad news washed over tonight's 'So You Think You Can Dance' as host Cat Deeley and the show basked in the glow of the eight Emmy nominations that were announced earlier today. However, there were several gray clouds hovering about as two more dancers were sent home and, for the first time this season, the eliminated dancers were not part of the same pair. Another bit of sad news came when Judge/Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe announced early in the show that Season 7 fan favorite Alex Wong, who had to step out of competition last year due to a tendon injury on his right foot, suffered another tendon injury (this time on his left foot) this past weekend and would not be able to return to the show as an All-Star next week.
