Cabarabia Productions, Clifford Bell, Producer and Director will present For LIFE.  For LOVE.  For as long as it takes…A FUNdraiser Celebrating 33 Years of Project Angel Food on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. at Catalina Jazz Club

Los Angeles musical producer Clifford Bell announced today that he and entertainer Kiki Ebsen were staging 'Giving Thanks: A Benefit for Autism Works Now,' a musical brunch at Feinstein's at Vitello's in Studio City to benefit the nonprofit Autism Works Now, funded by researcher Joanne Lara. Says Bell, 'I produce a lot of Live Entertainment - maybe three or four shows every month and I have for many decades now.'

Back to the Backlot, a live musical comedy variety show, will bring back many of West Hollywood's famed Backlot Theatre's original showcase stars to commemorate the end of an era of one of the country's most famous venues for live entertainment. The event will mark the beginning of the preservation project known as Robertson Lane, which will re-build the venue formally known as The Factory and the famous Studio One Nightclub. The historic building opened in 1929 as the home of Mitchell Cameras, an early and important movie camera maker for the large movie studios. It was then the Studio One nightclub/Backlot Theatre from the late 1970s through the 1990s.

Cabaret On Sundays Series presents Clifford Bell and one of his Cabarabia Spotlight shows with Clifford and his friends from Palm Springs: SHARON SILLS, BONNIE GILGALLON, and JOEL BAKER, and from San Diego: DAVID DOOLEY.

The popular 'Cabaret On Sundays' Series presented by Les Michaels of Life Is A Cabaret will begin the 11th season on June 2, 2019 with a total of 18 shows in the Summer Season that runs through September 29, 2019.  The cabaret shows are presented in concert format at the Arthur Newman Theatre located in the Joslyn Center in Palm Desert at 73750 Catalina Way.  All shows are Sundays at 2 pm and tickets are all $15 cash only and doors open at 1 pm. 

On October 12-14, Theatre West hosts "To Dad with Love: A Tribute to Buddy Ebsen," starring Kiki Ebsen.Accompanied by four of Los Angeles' premiere jazz musicians, Kiki shares the story of Buddy Ebsen's seven-decade entertainment career through songs, poignant stories, and Dustin Ebsen's media montage that details her father's life.

Ter, short for Terry, uses breaking-up songs and stories with a humorous outlook with a few touching ones thrown in. Although she's been away from the New York cabaret scene for several years, Francesca Amari is no stranger to it (having debuted at The Metropolitan Room in 2007 and appeared there again in 2008 and 2009). She returns to The Metropolitan Room in October with two performances of her critically-acclaimed tribute show to the late comedian/entertainer, Gilda Radner.

Although she's been away from the New York cabaret scene for several years, Francesca Amari is no stranger to it (having debuted at The Metropolitan Room in 2007 and appearing there again in 2008 and 2009). She returns to The Metropolitan Room in October with 2 performances of her critically-acclaimed tribute show to the late comedian/entertainer, Gilda Radner. In fact, Amari will perform "You Make Me Laugh: A Love Song to Gilda Radner" exactly 40 years to the day that Gilda Radner Made her debut on Saturday Night Live (October 11, 1975). She performs at 7 pm on Sunday, October 11th and Saturday, October 17th.  Music director for Amari is popular Broadway/cabaret music director Alex Rybeck.

On Sunday October 26, Clifford Bell presented the first Rick Starr Scholarship Fund Benefit Concert, entitled Starr Bucks, at Upstairs at Vitello's in Studio City. The beloved Starr, who passed away about a year ago, worked at Hollywood Sheet Music and served the Los Angeles musical theatre community in a most unusual, endearing way. Not only did he assist singers over the years to find unpublished songs for their various club acts and cabaret performances, but would go out of his way to find material for them depending on their individual preferences...and would call each and every customer on his or her birthday every year, just to wish them a Happy Birthday. A rare and delightful human being! Starr was remembered fondly with anecdotes by the three cabaret stars of the evening Mary Jo Mundy, Todd Murray and Shawn Ryan. Affable virtuoso pianist/singer Michael Sobie served as accompanist/musical director throughout the 90 minute set.

Singer and Actress Jane Kinsey's hit one-woman musical cabaret show "The Kinsey Report: The Doctor Is In" will make it's desert debut at the Arthur Newman Theater at The Joslyn Center in Palm Desert at 2 PM for one performance on Sunday, June 29, 2014. "This show, which highlights the neuroses of various patients through an eclectic mix of songs along with some very clever patter, has been playing to sold out audiences throughout the Los Angeles area with glowing reviews", says Les Michaels who has known Ms. Kinsey and been a fan of her work for over 10 years, and produces this series of cabaret shows currently in it's 5th season.

Actor, musician and writer Peter Gallagher makes his debut at the Annenberg Theater in Palm Springs with his one-man show, 'How'd All You People Get In My Room?,' tonight, February 22 at 8:00 pm. Gallagher will share real-life stories from his early days starting out as a young actor in New York, to working with legends like Jack Lemmon, Tom Stoppard, Mike Nichols, Robert Altman, Peter O'Toole and more. Joined by his band, Gallagher brings his experiences to life with songs ranging from Broadway, to music from the hit television show 'The OC,' to classics from Sammy Cahn, Jules Styne, Burt Bacharach and Van Morrison. Gallagher made his Broadway debut in 1977 as Danny Zuko in 'Grease'. He later starred as Sky Masterson in the 1992 Tony-Winning revival of 'Guys And Dolls' , as well as the musicals 'Pal Joey' and 'Annie Get Your Gun'. I had the chance to talk with Gallagher as he was preparing for his Palm Springs stint, Here are a few excerpts from that conversation.

The 2013 SAC Awards, a night of recognition for "The Art of Cabaret" and the community of supporters that proffer it in San Diego, is being held on Monday, January 27th at The Comedy Store La Jolla from 7pm to 10:30pm. The 2013 SAC Awards is one of San Diego's most prominent events for the Arts in San Diego for 2014.
