Kim Katzberg's DARKLING & Nora Woolley's HIP Begins Performances Today at IRT

Eat a Radish Productions has announced that two of downtown's most audacious playwrights and performers will unite for the off-off Broadway run of DARKLING and HIP, two dark comedies that explore the inside world of the outsider. DARKLING, written and performed by Kim Katzberg, is a far-out, bitingly funny journey through teen angst that will play alongside Nora Woolley's HIP, a heart-wrenching comedy about longing for fame while steeped in the discomfort of self-consciousness. Previews begin today, December 21st at IRT Theater, 154 Christopher St. DARKLING & HIP officially opens on Saturday, January 4th at 7PM. Raquel Cion directs.

San Francisco Girls Chorus Continues Its 35th Season with Benjamin Britten's NOYE'S FLUDDE, 3/29

San Francisco, CA, December 20, 2013 – The five-time Grammy Award-winning San Francisco Girls Chorus--Lisa Bielawa, Artistic Director and Valérie Sainte-Agathe, Music Director and Principal Conductor—continues its 35th anniversary season with a fully staged production of Benjamin Britten's 1957 opera Noye's Fludde, based on the biblical deluge story, in one performance only, Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 8 pm at Temple Emanu-El in San Francisco. Conducted by Ms. Sainte-Agathe, the cast will feature guest artists Carey Perloff as The Voice of God, bass-baritone Joe Chappell as Noah, mezzo-soprano Silvie Jensen as Mrs. Noah and other soloist roles performed by members of the San Francisco Girls Chorus, to be announced. The production will be staged by Ariel Craft and will feature original art, costumes and set pieces created by members of San Francisco's acclaimed Creativity Explored, supported by a grant from the Creative Work Fund. Josh Hecht to Direct Jake Jeppson's THE CLEARING Off-Broadway at Theatre at St. Clement's

Theatre at St. Clement's will host the World Premiere of The Clearing, written by Jake Jeppson (Jerome Fellowship recipient) and directed by Josh Hecht (Drama Desk Award winner for Christine Jorgensen Reveals). The Clearing runs Off-Broadway from January 15 - February 9, 2014. Previews begin January 15 for a January 19 opening. Theatre at St. Clement's is located at 423 West 46th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues in New York City.

A new play about one of the first and most notorious cases of invasion of privacy on the Internet - 'IF YOU CAN GET TO BUFFALO: An Exploration of 'A Rape in Cyberspace' by Julian Dibbell,' written by Trish Harnetiaux and directed by Eric Nightengale - will be given its world premiere this winter by Incubator Arts Project (inside St. Mark's Church, 131 E. 10 St. in Manhattan), with preview performances Thursday, February 13th prior to an official press opening on Tuesday, February 18th, 2014.

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, has announced complete casting today for its upcoming new production of Bertolt Brecht's A MAN'S A MAN, which begins performances Friday, January 10 at CSC (136 East 13thStreet). A MAN'S A MAN will be directed by Brian Kulick and features a new score and new songs by Tony Award-winning composer Duncan Sheik. This production continues CSC's exploration of the works of Bertolt Brecht, which began in 2011 with the sold-out production of Galileoand was followed by last season's The Caucasian Chalk Circle (on which Kulick and Sheik also collaborated). Joining previously announcedJustin Vivian Bond (Widow Begbick) are Jason Babinsky (Polly Baker), Bill Buell (Jeraiah Jip), Gibson Frazier (Galy Gay), Martin Moran (Uriah Shelley), Steven Skybell (Jesse Mahoney), Stephen Spinella (Bloody Five), Ching Valdes-Aran (Mr. Wang) and Allan K. Washington (Ensemble). The official opening night is Thursday, January 30. A MAN'S A MAN will play a limited engagement through February 16.

Today, Cutting Edge Composers is thankful for its talented composers, especially Will Reynolds. His song 'I Knew a Boy' was sung by Spring Awakening's Blake Daniel at their concert at the Canal Room. When asked about his inspiration for writing this song, Will said 'The first lyric is 'We sneak by disaster-free courting catastrophe' which basically sums up my experience as a 20-something. 'I Knew a Boy' was a warning to myself when I realized I had let myself get a little too lost.'
