ART START-UP! Neighborhood Gathering to Address Cultural Concerns at TNC

With the City of New York now creating its very first citywide Cultural Plan, a group of artists and friends of Theater for the New City (TNC) are helping the East Village/Lower East Side contribute to this process, but in a unique way.  Instead of having arts organizations advise the City, they are banding together as ART START-UP! and are initiating a process by which artists will listen to the community, exploring how to seed new relationships that will serve our district and the city in many ways.

Virtual Reality Encounter CVTRAIN to Play PS122's COIL 2017

As part of the twelfth edition of PS122's Coil festival, Performance Space 122 presents CVRTAIN, a Virtual Reality (VR) experience by Yehuda Duenyas where the audience member is the star. CVRTAIN places the participant center stage in a beautiful theater where a curtain parts to reveal an audience of thousands teeming with adulation.

PS122 and The Chocolate Factory to Bring Daniel Fish's UNTITLED to COIL 2017

As part of the twelfth edition of PS122's Coil festival, Performance Space 122 and The Chocolate Factory Theater present Daniel Fish's latest, untitled work. Made for a very small audience, and performed during daylight hours, Untitled uses light, set and sound to ruminate on the passage of time, our perception of it, and to pose questions about how alert an audience can be as both individuals and a group.

MCC Theater Seeking Transgender Artists for 2017-18 Season Opener CHARM

MCC Theater is conducting a casting search for transgender and gender non-conforming performers, as it prepares for the newly announced first show of its 2017-18 Season: the NYC premiere of Charm, a play by Chicago-based, Jefferson Award-winning playwright Philip Dawkins to be directed by Helen Hayes Award winner Will Davis, a transgender artist.

Friends of the High Line Presents THE GAITS: A HIGH LINE SOUNDWALK on Today

Friends of the High Line is pleased to announce that The Gaits, a sound-based walk on the High Line, will return to the High Line today, December 21, at 5:00 PM. The Gaits: A High Line Soundwalk is a free, immersive, smartphone application that features a score of electric guitar chords, zen gongs, and more composed by Lainie Fefferman, Jascha Narveson, and Cameron Britt.

NYC & Company to Keep Winter Moving with Broadway & Off-Broadway Weeks and More

NYC & Company, New York City's official destination marketing organization, has announced its new Nonstop NYC winter campaign that includes celebrated promotions NYC Restaurant Week (Jan. 23-Feb.10), NYC Broadway Week (Jan. 17-Feb. 5) and NYC Off-Broadway Week (Feb. 27-Mar. 12), alongside the first-ever NYC Attractions Week (Jan.17-Feb.5).

Billy Porter to Host A.R.T./New York Theatres Ribbon Cutting Next Month

The Staten Island Children's Museum is excited to share their newest interactive exhibit, Sensory Imaging with their members and visitors.  Created to immerse children in multi-sensory exploration, a 'magic' screen reacts to children's touch by displaying brilliant bursts of color wherever it's touched.  The deeper or firmer the touch, the bigger the burst of color! The exhibit empowers children (of ALL ages!) to experiment with sensory processing.  Most of all, it's just plain fun!

A JEW GROWS IN BROOKLYN 2.O Debuts at Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center

Jake Ehrenreich, playwright, author and academically recognized expert on Comedy, Catskills and the Holocaust, will present a completely updated version of his beloved autobiographical comedy musical A Jew Grows in Brooklyn, when A Jew Grows in Brooklyn 2.0 opens at the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center in Boca Raton for a limited four week run from February 2 - 26.
