Though the current tenants at the Eugene O'Neil claim to be presenting 'God's Favorite Musical,' the new gang moving into Circle In The Square this October may have something to say about that as the first Broadway revival of Godspell gears up for a November 7th opening.
The revival of Godspell, which has long been expected to head to Broadway next season, will reportedly open at the Circle in the Square Theatre on November 7, 2011. according to a report in the New York Times. Performances will begin on October 13, 2011.
BroadwayWorld.com reported back on April 21 that the Broadway-bound revival of Godspell, which is now aiming for the Great White Way in the 2011-12 theatre season will likely play in the Circle in the Square Theatre, which is currently home to the open-ended run of LOMBARDI. No official announcement has been made, but the production will indeed open this year, on November 7th.

Spring is in the air and the announcement of the 2011 Tony Awards nominations last week is still the hottest news in the theatre community. Topping the list for the most nods was none other than God's favorite musical: THE BOOK OF MORMON, making it more impossible than ever to snag tickets to this season's big draw. London import WAR HORSE has also been enjoying weeks of sold-out houses, which is unlikely to change after earning 5 nominations last Tuesday. And though this year's Tony hype didn't effect them, Broadway staples WICKED and THE LION KING are still going strong, filling their respective theatres on a weekly basis.
