On June 19-22 and 26-29, The People's Shakespeare Project (TPSP) will present eight outdoor performances (weather permitting) of one of Shakespeare's most rollicking and sometimes controversial comedies, Taming of the Shrew. All performances will be held on an outdoor stage next to The Swan Pond in the middle of Millersville University's campus. Each evening starts with live music at 7 p.m. The play begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. The final Saturday performance on June 28 will be open-captioned. There is no ticket price, however there is a suggested donation of $5.

In memory of New York theater legend Theodore Mann a $1,000 Scholarship will be awarded to one outstanding performer (ages 15 and up) for the Summer Workshops in acting or musical theater at Circle in the Square Theatre School. The seven-week intensive workshops begin on June 30th, and the deadline by which to apply and audition is June 23rd.
FRESH PRODUCE'd provides a place where new theatrical work can ripen. It is a writer's theater dedicated to the support and development of contemporary American playwrights and Screenwriters, and to the production of their new work. It is led by committed and talented artists, harvested from Yale, Julliard, Circle in the Square Theatre School, Tisch, NYU and The New School for Drama.

The Theatre World Awards took place last night, June 2, at Circle in the Square (West 50th Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenue), home of the current Broadway revival of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill. 2014 Honorees for Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut Performance included: Paul Chahidi, Nick Cordero, Bryan Cranston, Mary Bridget Davies, Sarah Greene, Rebecca Hall, Ramin Karimloo, Zachary Levi, Chris O'Dowd, Sophie Okonedo, Emerson Steele, and Lauren Worsham. The 2014 Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence in the Theater Winner went to Celia Keenan-Bolger for her performance as Laura in The Glass Menagerie and the 2014 John Willis Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre Winner went to Christopher Plummer.
