The May edition of ARTS IN THE CITY celebrates the coming of summer and the latest cultural touchstones in the New York area.

From February 20 to March 8, 2014, Persephone Productions presents The Walnut Tree by Canadian playwright, editor, film producer and music composer, Geoffrey Ursell, adapted from the semi-autobiographical book by Martha Blum. Theatre enthusiasts from all parts of the city will have access to the production when it plays at both the centrally-located Centre Culturel Calixa-Lavallee (in Parc Lafontaine) and on the south shore at the Centre Multifonctionnel de Saint-Lambert (81 Hooper).

Duo Multicultural Arts Center (DMAC) is pleased to present MADboots dance co. as part of PRIDE @ DMAC (June 16-22). After an eight-week residency at DMAC this Spring, MADboots Co-artistic Directors Jonathan Campbell and Austin Diaz return to the historic Duo Theater to perform works that wowed the dance community this past May. MADboots will perform on Wednesday, June 19 & Thursday, June 20, 2013, 8PM. Admission is $10.

Duo Multicultural Arts Center (DMAC) is pleased to present PRIDE @ DMAC, running June 16-22, 2013. As an official partner for NYC Pride, DMAC will showcase a diverse range of works, including paintings by contemporary artist SethRuggles Hiler, performative exhibitions by Michelangelo Alasa', and dance by the burgeoning MADboots dance co.

Back in the ring by popular demand is CORNERED, to be presented in association with Infinitheatre. Written by Jim Burke, directed by Paul Van Dyck, and starring Howard Rosenstein and Christopher Moore, the production will play tonight, March 6-17, 2013.

Hi friends! What an amazing last 6 months I have had. In March I finished out the first national tour of 'Mary Poppins' in Mexico City playing for almost 5,000 people a night. Touring was such an unforgettable experience and I feel lucky to have been a part of such an amazing group of people. I landed back in NYC after being away for almost 6 years, and much to my surprise I booked my first Broadway show my second week back. What a welcome back to NYC gift that was! On April 3rd I made my Broadway debut in the hit show 'Rock of Ages', and since then the fun has not stopped.

For the 13th year Centaur Theatre Company presents the Annual Wildside Festival, a selection of cutting-edge plays that celebrate the spirit of independent theatre. This season the Wildside Festival will feature creations by some of Montreal's most amazing female artists as well as one show by an artist making waves in Toronto. From January 5th- 17th catch six plays in repertory, including the OFF THE MAIN winner (Centaur's Best of the Montreal Fringe award), My Pregnant Brother.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey announced today it will bring international bestselling author Christopher Moore (Fool, Lamb, A Dirty Job, You Suck) to Madison for an exclusive presentation -- Knaves, Thieves and Treachers: An Evening with Christopher Moore -- on November 19 at 7:30 p.m. at The F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre.

Acquisto and directed by Carlos Armesto, will open October 17th. The musical is based on the unpublished manuscript, Matthew's Secret Door by Christopher Paul Moore and Matthew Christopher Moore.
