The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) proudly reveals this season's Joe A. Callaway Award winners for Direction and Choreography from more than 200 eligible productions in the 2012 - 2013 New York City theatre season. This year's awards will be presented to Ruben Santiago-Hudson for his direction of The Piano Lesson produced by Signature Theatre and Marlo Hunter for her choreography of Unlock'd produced by Prospect Theater Company. The winners join previous Joe A. Callaway Award Winners including Susan Stroman (1991), Harold Prince (1993), Julie Taymor (1996), Jack O'Brien (2001), Bartlett Sher (2002), Daniel Sullivan (2004), John Tiffany (2012) and Steven Hoggett (2012).

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced additional casting and creatives for the 25th Annual Festival of New Musicals on Thursday, October 17 and Friday, October 18 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

Newsies is currently in its second year on Broadway and is still bringing audiences to their feet nightly at the Nederlander Theatre. Jodi Benson, who voiced 'Ariel' in Disney's animated feature 'The Little Mermaid,' stopped by the show and posed with the cast backstage. BroadwayWorld was there and you can check out photos below!

Huntington Theatre Company just extended the run of its world premiere adaptation of The Jungle Book - the final performance will now be Sunday, October 20. The production officially opened on September 18 at the Huntington's mainstage, the Boston University Theatre. BroadwayWorld has photos of the stars on opening night below!

The return of the Orlando Fringe Festival hit musical DISENCHANTED! will be playing at The Abbey in downtown Orlando, today, September 19 through October 27.

Due to popular demand, the Huntington Theatre Company again extends the run of its world premiere adaptation of The Jungle Book - the final performance will now be Sunday, October 20. The 'inventive and visually stunning' (Entertainment Weekly) production officially opens tonight, Wednesday, September 18 at 7pm at the Huntington's mainstage, the Boston University Theatre.

Sixteen members of cast of the Huntington Theatre Company's production of The Jungle Book will perform the National Anthem tomorrow, Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Fenway Park before the nationally televised 1:05pm Red Sox game versus the New York Yankees.

Two years ago, on September 15, 2011, Newsies, the hit Tony Award-winning 'critics' pick,' played its first performance at Paper Mill Playhouse. Ever since that very first night, Newsies fans, self-proclaimed 'fansies,' have been a cause for celebration, helping to propel the show from a limited regional theatre run to a limited Broadway engagement and then to extend into a record-breaking open-ended run. Mary Zimmerman returns to the Huntington Theatre Company for The Jungle Book, a world premiere stage adaptation produced in association with Chicago's Goodman Theatre. The production premiered in Chicago on June 21 and plays at the Huntington tonight, September 7 - October 6, 2013.

The Jungle has arrived in Boston! Rehearsals at the Huntington Theatre Company begin today for the world premiere adaptation of The Jungle Book. The production, wholly reimagined for the stage by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman (Candide) is based on Nobel Laureate Rudyard Kipling's 1893 collection of stories set in the Indian jungle and Walt Disney's 1967 animated film. Zimmerman's adaptation is a music-and movement-filled adventure of young Mowgli's coming-of-age in the animal kingdom featuring the movie's best-loved songs in wholly new Indian-inspired arrangements. Legendary Academy Award and Grammy winner Richard M. Sherman - whose numerous songwriting credits with brother Robert B. Sherman include the motion pictures The Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The AristoCats - collaborates on this production, providing Music Director Doug Peck access and permission to adapt songs that Sherman and his brother wrote for the film, plus never-before-heard material. Tony Award-winning choreographer Christopher Gattelli with Indian dance consultant Hema Rajagopalan combine elements of classical Indian dance forms with jazz, tap, and more to enhance the storytelling.
