Crown Center Presents Coterie's MAUL OF THE DEAD, 10/16-10/31

It's time to celebrate the era of polyester, disco, punk rock and platform shoes! The year is 1978 and the dead rise once again to terrorize Coterie audiences trapped in Crown Center's Off Centre Theatre during Maul of the Dead, October 16 - 31. The world premiere, by Mitch Brian and directed by Ron Megee, is inspired by the favorite zombie movie of all time, Dawn of the Dead. Maul of the Dead is part of the Coterie At Night series that brings evening-only performances to older audiences.

RENT Offers Orchestra Tix Avaliable For Students And Lottery

Seats in the front two rows of the orchestra pit will be made available for $20 through a lottery for every performance of Rent, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony? Award-winning musical, at the Detroit Opera House, February 17-22. Following the lottery, students with a valid ID may purchase remaining available seats for $25. To enter the lottery, patrons must go to the Detroit Opera House box office two-and-a-half hours prior to show time to fill out an entry card; the drawing will be conducted two hours prior to show time. Winners will be able to buy one or two tickets per person for $20 each -- cash only. The lottery is open to everyone.

RENT Offers $20 Seats Avaliable Through Pre-Show Lottery

Twenty-three seats in the front row of the orchestra will be made available for $20 for every performance of Rent, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony? Award-winning musical, coming to Ovens Auditorium, Jan. 27 - Feb. 1. The seats will be available through a day-of-the-performance lottery. Each day, 2 hours prior to show time, people who present themselves at the Ovens Auditorium box office (2700 E. Independence Blvd.) will have their names placed in a lottery drum and then thirty minutes later, names will be drawn for a total of 23 orchestra level seats at $20 each, cash only. You must be present when your name is drawn to win (valid identification required) and you must purchase your seats immediately. Each winner drawn may purchase a maximum of two tickets at $20 each, cash only. The Ovens parking lots will be open for lottery participants starting three hours before curtain and there will be no charge for parking. Please identify yourself as a lottery participant to the lot attendant. 'In keeping with the spirit of the show and the vision of Jonathan Larson (the show's creator) we are happy to be able to offer prime seats to people who otherwise would not be able to purchase them,' explained original Rent producer Kevin McCollum. 'Jonathan was himself a struggling artist and his dream was to create a universal piece of musical theatre that's available to everyone.'

Academy Award-nominated director Gus Van Sant's Milk, starring Academy Award winner Sean Penn as gay rights icon Harvey Milk, had its world premiere at San Francisco's historic Castro Theatre (at 429 Castro Street) tonight. The evening benefited multiple charities supporting LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) youth. Dinner and dancing followed at City Hall.
