Portland Opera established the Resident Artist Program in 2005, providing a bridge from the conservatory world to the professional stage for talented emerging singers, who join the company for a two-year rigorous residency and training program.

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) today announces the appointment of baritone Matthew Worth to its voice faculty. Worth will lead a full studio at SFCM beginning in Fall 2019, joining the voice department led by chair Cesar Ulloa. Worth's appointment comes just after the announcement of Rhoslyn Jones joining SFCM's faculty.
On May 19, 2019 in Seattle, and four days later in San Francisco, Music of Remembrance (MOR) will present the premiere of The Parting, a new opera it has commissioned from Tom Cipullo with a libretto by poet David Mason. MOR will unveil this stunning new work as part of its program on Sunday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. The partnership between San Francisco Opera and the Bay Area's Classical KDFC continues with monthly broadcasts of performances captured during the Fall 2016 Season, including the world premiere of Bright Sheng and David Henry Hwang's Dream of the Red Chamber, and a historic broadcast from the Company's archives. All performances were recorded live at the War Memorial Opera House and feature the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and Chorus (Ian Robertson, Chorus Director).
