The Castillo Theatre will hold its 2011 annual gala benefit entitled, WOMEN ONSTAGE, on Monday, November 7th at the All Stars Project, 543 West 42nd Street (between 10th & 11th Avenue) at 6:30 p.m. The gala will recognize and honor four inspirational women of the theatre. Carmen de Lavallade, Gabrielle L. Kurlander, Judith Malina, and Daphne Rubin-Vega have all lived lives of outstanding artistic achievement and have used their achievements to inspire others.
Edward James Olmos is an actor, producer, director and community activist. He will be the guest speaker at The Grand Theatre on Wednesday, November 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mr. Olmos' presentation will be in English. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions of Mr. Olmos in both English and Spanish. The sun came out in Thousand Oaks, CA last week as Cabrillo Music Theatre proudly opened its all new production of the hit musical, Annie. ANNIE also marks the return of Sally Struthers as Miss Hannigan to the Cabrillo stage, having won a Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Award for her performance as the Fairy Godmother in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella last season. Annie opened Friday, October 14th and continues through Sunday, October 23rd, at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.
