Anthony Fedorov, Jennifer Paz to debut at Rockwell Table and Stage, 8/3

Anthony Chisholm Stars in DARK MEAT ON A FUNNY MIND at Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Now thru 8/24

The Nuyorican Poets Cafe's 40th anniversary season continues with the world premiere of Wesley Brown's play Dark Meat on a Funny Mind, which stars Tony nominee Anthony Chisholm as legendary comedian Richard Pryor. In Dark Meat, Pryor and his mischievous alter ego (played by actress Trish McCall) revisit the characters who shaped his life and inspired his career. The result is hilarious, surprising and memorable. A. Dean Irby directs the production, which opens today, July 31 and runs through August 24.

Telemundo Begins Production on SEÑORA ACERO

Telemundo Studios announces the beginning of filming for the new original production, “Señora Acero,” starring Blanca Soto in her network debut. Written by Roberto Stopello (“La Reina del Sur”) and directed by actor and director Miguel Varoni and Walter Doehner (“La Reina del Sur”), the super series features a stellar cast, including Andrés Palacios, Rebecca Jones and Litzy, and the special participation of Damián Alcázar. Filmed on location in different locations surrounding Mexico City, 'Señora Acero' tells the story of Sara Aguilar Bermúdez (Blanca Soto), a beautiful, charismatic and intelligent woman who goes from being a housewife with an ordinary life to a person capable of shaking the very foundations of her country's government.

Yiddish WAITING FOR GODOT to Open 7th Annual Origin's 1st Irish Festival in September

The New Yiddish Rep's crowd-pleasing world premiere of Samuel Beckett's 'Waiting for Godot' in Yiddish, a surprise hit of the 2013-14 season, opens the 7th annual Origin's 1st Irish Festival in September. Presented by the Barrow Street Theatre, 27 Barrow Street, from September 4 to 21, the show's return engagement Off-Broadway completes a remarkable trans-Atlantic journey for this uniquely illuminating version of Beckett's absurdist masterwork, as it comes on the heels of its European premiere in Northern Ireland where 'Vartn Auf Godo' will open the 3rd annual Happy Days Enniskillen International Beckett Festival.
