Exhibition of Architectural Models from Ancient Americas to Feature Rare Loans

From the first millennium B.C. until the arrival of Europeans in the 16th century, artists from the ancient Americas created small-scale architectural models to be placed in the tombs of important individuals. These works in stone, ceramic, wood, and metal range from highly abstracted, minimalist representations of temples and houses to elaborate architectural complexes populated with figures.

50th Anniversary Production of IN WHITE AMERICA to Play New Federal Theatre, 10/15-11/15

 Woodie King Jr.'s New Federal Theatre, in association with Castillo Theatre, will revive Martin Duberman's 'In White America,' one of the signature plays of the Civil Rights Era, in a Off-Broadway production October 15 to November 15 at Castillo Theatre, 543 West 42nd Street.  The famed documentary play traces the American quest for racial equality from the earliest days of the republic to the Little Rock crisis of 1957, with dialogue drawn from historical letters, speeches, journals, songs and other personal accounts including recordings of former slaves. Charles Maryan directs an ensemble of seven which includes actor-turned-newscaster-turned-actor Art McFarland.

MCC Extends THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE

MCC THEATER announced today the extension-by popular demand-of its hit comedy, Matthew Lopez's The Legend of Georgia McBride, now playing at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street).  The play, which officially opened on September 9th, will now play through October 11th.  It was previously scheduled through October 4th.  For more information on MCC Theater, please visit www.mcctheater.org.

DESTINY OF DESIRE Begins Tonight at Arena Stage

Carlos Gomez, an original cast member of Broadway's IN THE HEIGHTS, recently replaced Geoffrey Rivas as 'Ernesto del Rio' in the world premiere of Karen Zacarias' DESTINY OF DESIRE. The production runs tonight, September 11, through October 18, 2015 at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater.
