John Prine Comes to PlayhouseSquare Tonight
by BWW News Desk
- May 17, 2014
Long considered a 'songwriter's songwriter,' John Prine is a rare talent who writes the songs other songwriters would sell their souls for. Evidence of this is the long list of songwriters who have recorded gems from his extensive catalog, including Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, the Everly Brothers, John Denver, Kris Kristofferson, Carly Simon, Ben Harper, Joan Baez, and many others. With immeasurable accolades, including two Grammys and the distinction of being one of the few songwriters honored by the Library of Congress and US Poet Laureate, Prine is more than a musician…he is an American treasure.

by BWW News Desk

It's not the cast from Jersey Boys. Not a Jersey Boys tribute show. Not a Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons cover band. Members of this amazing supergroup of musicians, vocalists, arrangers and composers actually were the Four Seasons who sang with Frankie Valli. They were the Shondells who sang with Tommy James. They are the authentic rock and rollers whose legacy includes hundreds of hit records from the 60s, 70s and 80s. They now call themselves The Hit Men and are bringing their famous sounds and energy to Harris Center for the Arts.

BWW Review: Baryshnikov Has All the Right Moves
by Nancy Grossman
- Feb 27, 2014
Fusing theater, dance, music, and video, ArtsEmerson's MAN IN A CASE is an unusual entertainment, something that has to be seen to be appreciated. At the least, it is an example of thinking outside of the box and an opportunity to see one of the world's greatest dancers onstage; at best, it is an opportunity to see that one of the world's greatest dancers has many more tricks up his tights and that his fluid movements have not abandoned him. You can take the dancer out of the ballet, but you cannot take the ballet out of the dancer. Even in a straight play, the man still has all the right moves.
