After 24 years of dedication to Matrix Theatre Company, founder and CEO, Dr. Shaun Nethercott is retiring from her leadership position effective September 30, 2015. Upon her retirement, Dr. Nethercott will travel to Wyoming to spend time with her family, and continue her writing work.

Pulitzer-winning writer of Anna in the Tropics, Nilo Cruz, will be one of the playwrights featured in Hero Theatre's Festival Irene: Celebrating the Legacy of Maria Irene Fornes. The festival will include some of Fornes' most celebrated plays and feature works from some of her former students. Other Award-winning playwrights and former Fornes students that are part of the festival include Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas (Bird In the Hand), Migdalia Cruz (Miriam's Flowers), Lisa Loomer (Distracted), Eduardo Machado (The Cook), Cherrie Moraga (Heroes and Saints), Octavio Solis (Lydia) and Caridad Svich (Antigone Project).

Winner of the 2014 NYMF Developmental Reading Series, this Latin infused American musical is inspired by the true story of a Princeton Undergrad who was an undocumented child immigrant from the Dominican Republic. When Manuel gets a scholarship to study at Oxford, he's faced with the realization that he can't leave the USA. He takes on The Statue of Liberty in the fight of a lifetime; the high-stakes boxing match that is immigration today. Is Manuel worthy? No one is spared in this political comedy that pulls no punches about immigration reform and the American Dream.

Mannyville LLC, Dramatic Question Theatre and the New York Musical Theatre Festival are proud to announce the extension of the musical Manuel versus The Statue of Liberty which will begin performances this Tuesday, July 21.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has just released a new collection, INNOVATION IN FIVE ACTS, edited by Caridad Svich, the first publication in TCG Book's new Sourcebook series.

Matthew Paul Olmos's the living life of the daughter mira has been named the winner of Arizona Theatre Company's 2015 National Latino Playwriting Award (NLPA), and the recipient of the $1000 prize. 2015 marks the 20th year of the competition.

Gloucester Stage announces the debut of the NeverDark series. NeverDark is a series of second-stage events that include lectures, talk backs, film screenings, play readings, and other events designed to enhance the knowledge and enjoyment of all Gloucester Stage Mainstage productions. The Ensemble Studio Theatre Marathon of One-Act Plays, the original festival of its kind, returns for its 35th incarnation, tonight, May 13, at 7:00pm at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street. 

Playwright Dominique Morisseau's play features Valeka J. Holt, Manu H. Kumasi, and Jefferson A. Russell.

Working Theater, the Off-Broadway company under the direction of Artistic Producing Director Mark Plesent, will continue celebrating its 30th Anniversary season by presenting 'work in progress' showings of the FIVE BOROUGHS / ONE CITY plays that five teams of critically acclaimed playwrights and directors have developed in collaboration with communities and residents in each of the five boroughs in New York City. Showings will be held May 6 - May 10 at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex, 312 West 36th Street, first floor.

Olga Sanchez, Artistic Director since 2003, will be leaving Milagro next season to begin a new chapter in her artistic life at the University of Oregon, where she will pursue a Doctorate in Theatre Arts.  "I'm delighted to join the academic program at University of Oregon, led by Prof. John Schmor", who penned the award-winning theatrical adaptation of Ursula K. LeGuin's "The Left Hand of Darkness" for the Hand2Mouth-Portland Playhouse collaboration. "Their commitment to artistic practice, as well as scholarly rigor, and to illuminating and actively nurturing the growing cultural diversity of American theatre is immensely appealing. I'm looking forward to this new phase of critical learning and practice."

Rep Stage, the professional regional theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), proudly announces its 2015-16 season lineup.

On Monday, March 23, the League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), a not-for-profit organization committed to promoting visibility and increasing opportunities for women in the professional theatre, will present a special event for Women's History month, Writing Plays By, For, or About Women. The event will be from 6pm to 8pm at Theater Lab at 357 W. 36th St. on the 3rd floor, focusing on the roles of women in today's theater. Producing Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside of American Blues Theater, Chicago's second oldest Equity Ensemble, announces the recipient of the 2015 Blue Ink Playwriting Award is Jamie Pachino and her play Other Than Honorable.

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (The Rep) continues the Ignite! Festival of New Plays. Taking place in March, the festival will include commissions of nationally recognized playwrights, culminating with three public readings including This Thing of Ours by Caridad Svich and directed by Emily Mendelsohn; The Full Catastrophe by Michael Weller, based on the novel by David Carkeet and directed by Seth Gordon; and Molly's Hammer by Tammy Ryan, based on the book Hammer of Justice by Liane Ellison Norman and directed by Seth Gordon. The festival productions will take place in the Sally S. Levy Opera Center, located at 210 Hazel Avenue, directly behind the Loretto-Hilton Center.

Necessary Exposure: The Female Playwright Project (on view January 5 - 26) is a series of installations displaying portraits of playwrights who identify as female.

Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) is now accepting submissions for the 2015 National Latino Playwriting Award from Latino playwrights currently living in the United States, its territories or in Mexico.
