Adam Green and Neal Bledsoe Star in Stephen Wadsworth's FIGARO PLAYS at McCarter, Now thru 5/4
by BWW News Desk - Apr 1, 2014

He may not have money, he may not have power...but where there's a wit, there's a way. Figaro is a comic chameleon unmatched across history: clever, insubordinate, restless, lustful, agent of chaos, champion of love, jack of all trades, and man for all seasons. For more than two hundred years, this wily valet has spoken words that have incited revolution and performed deeds that make audiences fall in love with him time and again.

BWW Reviews: Intiman's WE WON'T PAY Goes Over the Top and Stays There
by Jay Irwin - Aug 1, 2013

I like absurdist farce, raucous hijinks and Italian commedia as much as the next guy and Dario Fo is certainly a master of all three. However when a production of one of his plays such as the Intiman's current production of "We Won't Pay, We Won't Pay" starts off going 100 miles an hour and stays there for the entire show, it becomes old and wearing and really not all that funny.

BWW Reviews: Seattle Rep's INSPECTING CAROL Delivers Some Laughs But Doesn’t Hold Together
by Jay Irwin - Nov 29, 2012

It's always a risk when a professional company such as the Rep dusts off an old chestnut such as "Inspecting Carol". I mean, it's kind of become a go to Christmas show for hundreds of regional theaters and might be a little dated. But I can understand why since it was created at the Rep back in 1991 by then Artistic Director Daniel Sullivan and the Seattle Repertory Theatre Resident Company. And while the remount this year definitely had some laughs, overall it felt clunky and filled with holes and didn't deliver the constant barrage of gut busters I was expecting.

BWW Reviews: Over-the-Top MIRACLE! at Intiman
by Jay Irwin - Jul 15, 2012

Crass, over the top and offensive. Filled with bad taste, outrageous costumes and more dick jokes than you can shake … well … a dick at. If anyone asked me to describe Intiman's current production, I'd have to go with that. But did I like it? Despite a few missteps and an Act One that needs some tightening, I laughed my ass off. But then, I occasionally like crass, over the top and offensive in my theater.

Question: Ever wonder what this city's most prolific and respected working actors and directors do on their night off? Answer: they go back to the theatre and read more plays! Actors like Frank Corrado and Suzanne Bouchard relish for the opportunity to speak the words of surprisingly seldom produced playwrights like Harold Pinter.
