Rite of Summer Music Festival continues its sixth stellar season with cellist Jeffrey Zeigler and percussionist Ian David Rosenbaum performing two free shows at 1 & 3pm on Saturday, June 25th.

Single tickets to Lincoln Center Festival shows-highlights this year include legendary stars of Japan's all-female musical troupe, Takarazuka, in Takarazuka CHICAGO; Jonathan Pryce as Shylock in Shakespeare'sGlobe production of The Merchant of Venice; Balkan superstar Goran Bregovic and his raucous Wedding and Funeral Orchestra; and the National Ballet of Canada performances of Christopher Wheeldon's The Winter's Tale-will go on sale to Friends of Lincoln Center on April 1 and to the general public on April 11. The festival runs from Wednesday, July 13 through Sunday, July 31, 2016, with 49 performances by artists and ensembles from seven countries taking place in seven venues on and off the Lincoln Center campus.
From June 1-15 in both Philadelphia (Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts) and New York (Roulette in Brooklyn), PRISM-dubbed 'one of America's finest saxophone quartets for three decades' by The New Yorker -- will partner with the PARTCH Ensemble and So Percussion, and composers Ken Ueno, Steven Mackey and Stratis Minakakis to perform, explore, and record a new body of music combining saxophones with a breathtaking range of percussion instruments in COLOR THEORY.
Carnegie Hall presents the pioneering Kronos Quartet in a program of new works, including two world premieres, on Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall. Aleksandra Vrebalov's open-form piece, My Desert, My Rose, and Yotam Haber's South Africa-inspired break_break_break will receive their world premieres. The program also includes New York premieres of works by Nicole Lizee, N. Rajam, Wu Man, Karin Rehnqvist, Fode Lassana Diabate, and Albert Behar. New York City Ballet returns to the Kennedy Center for their annual engagement, March 1-6, 2016, performing two exciting and distinctively different programs of repertory, including the D.C. premiere of NYCB Resident Choreographer and Soloist Justin Peck's first narrative work, The Most Incredible Thing and a staging of August Bournonville's La Sylphide by Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins, as well as additional works by George Balanchine, August Bournonville, and Christopher Wheeldon. Carnegie Hall today unveiled its 2016-2017 season consisting of more than 170 concerts as well as wide-ranging education and community programs created by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute. The upcoming season includes performances by many of the world's greatest artists, including Tony winner Kelli O'Hara making her solo headlining debut at the renowned venue on Oct. 29, as well as ensembles representing classical, pop, jazz, and world music, with events presented on Carnegie Hall's three stages, in the Hall's Resnick Education Wing, and throughout New York City.
On Friday, February 12 at 9:00 p.m. in Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall presents the innovative ensemble S? Percussion in a program of new collaborative works by composers Glenn Kotche, Steven Mackey, and Shara Worden. With Glenn Kotche, percussionist for the Chicago-based rock band Wilco, S? performs the world premiere of Kotche's Migrations as well as his Drumkit Quartets, a work in the ensemble's repertoire since 2011, set to be released by Cantaloupe Records on February 27. Vocalist/composer Shara Worden is featured in her recent work written with S? Percussion, Timeline, heard here in its New York premiere. S? and Worden will also perform the New York premiere of Steven Mackey's Before It Is Time.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2016, eighth blackbird was recently nominated for its fourth Grammy Award for the ensemble's latest recording Filament. The group's new project, Hand Eye, was co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall for its 125 Commissions Project, in which at least 125 new works will be commissioned over the next five seasons in celebration of the Hall's 125th anniversary.
Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) announces the successful completion of its two-year, $1M Cage Cunningham Campaign to establish the Cage Cunningham Fund for artist fellowships, named for legendary artistic partners John Cage and Merce Cunningham. BAC's Artistic Director Mikhail Baryshnikov announced the inaugural Cage Cunningham Fellow, Alexei Lubimov, at an event on Monday, December 14, held at the Center. The event also served as the official naming of BAC's Studio 6A the John Cage and Merce Cunningham Studio. The Studio is the first physical space honoring Cage and Cunningham's unparalleled contribution to 20th century art and culture.
