The MUNY continues its season with an exuberant and colorful staging of HAIRSPRAY, the musical based on filmmaker and author John Waters' most accessible, and mainstream, movie. Of course, the master of bad taste allowed some of the rougher edges to get smoothed over in the process, but the core messages of understanding and acceptance in the face of prejudice and intolerance is still present, and that's what's truly important. The Muny announced today the cast for its production ofHairspray. From today, May 14, through May 21, 2015 the SOHO International Film Festival returns to NYC for seven days of films at Village East Cinemas located at 189 2nd Avenue on 12th Street in New York City.

The lineup for tonight, May 11, 2015 at 8 pm, highlighting THE BROADWAY MUSICALS OF 1966-1990, features: PATRICK PAGE (Spider-Man/The Hunchback of Notre Dame), JENNY POWERS (Little Women/Follies/Grease), NOAH RACEY (Thoroughly Modern Millie/Curtains), BRIAN CHARLES ROONEY (The Threepenny Opera), MARY TESTA (Two Time Tony Nominee On the Town/42nd Street) and more!

As we approach the 50th Anniversary of the passage of New York City's Landmarks Law in 2015, it is especially timely that we have the privilege to announce Meenakshi Srinivasan, Chair of the Landmarks Preservation Commission, as the Honorary Chair of A Christmas Carol at the Merchant's House Benefit Gala. The Merchant's House was the first building designated a landmark in the Borough of Manhattan at the inaugural meeting of the Landmarks Preservation Commission in September 1965.
