Disney's The Lion King, celebrating nearly 15 years since its 1997 world premiere in Minneapolis, opens tonight, Friday, Jan. 13, at 8 p.m. at Hennepin Theatre Trust's Orpheum Theatre for a limited engagement of five weeks through Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012.

Disney Theatrical Productions, Broadway Across America and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County announced today that tickets for the long-awaited production of THE LION KING will go on sale to the public on Saturday, February 11. The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess is now on Broadway with a cast led by four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald (Ragtime, "Private Practice") as Bess, Drama Desk nominee Norm Lewis (Les Miserables, Sondheim on Sondheim) as Porgy and two-time Tony nominee David Alan Grier (Race, "In Living Color") as Sporting Life.
The New York Times has just revealed that the production will extend its run through September 30, 2012, due to both critical and box office success. The production was originally scheduled to close on July 8, 2012. The news was released by producers, who have emailed groups sales reps informing them of the extension.

The tour of the smash hit Broadway revival of WEST SIDE STORY is coming to Milwaukee and is presented by Broadway Across America-Milwaukee and the Marcus Center as part of the Time Warner Cable Broadway at the Marcus Center Series. WEST SIDE STORY will open at the Marcus Center on April 10-15. Tony Award-winning librettist Arthur Laurents' Broadway direction will be recreated for the tour by David Saint, the Associate Director on Broadway. The original Jerome Robbins choreography is reproduced by Tony Award-nominee Joey McKneely (The Boy from Oz, The Life).
