The 2012-2013 Season will be one of great transformation as Southern Rep Theatre takes on its role as the Contemporary Arts Center's Theatre in Residence! Southern Rep is thrilled to embark on another season full of new plays, exciting collaborative productions, and thrilling surprises at our new venue.

Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage, Fairfield County's Award-Winning Professional Theatre Company, is pleased to announce the 2012/2013 MainStage Season. Between October 2012 and May 2013, MTCMainStage will present three fully-staged professional productions, each running for three weeks: 'Next to Normal,' 'Ancestral Voices' and 'The Cole Porter Project.'

Atlanta's nationally acclaimed Alliance Theatre will stage the multi-award-winning Broadway musical Next to Normal-the production's first run for Atlanta audiences. Next to Normal is the gripping story of a suburban family coping with the affects of mental illness.

Continuing a season of bold and Dynamic Productions, the Hangar Theatre presents the Central New York premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Next to Normal by Tony winners Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey. This groundbreaking musical stars Broadway luminaries Andrea Burns (In the Heights, Hangar's Ever So Humble) and Chris Hoch (La Cage Aux Folles, Shrek the Musical, Spamalot), directed by Tracy Brigden. There's something to be said for a small theater space. It's intimate, it's personal, and there isn't a bad seat in the place. But with a musical as beautifully tragic and human as Next To Normal, it is downright claustrophobic. A family attempting to overcome the past - a mother suffering from a mood disorder, a husband upholding his vows, a daughter fading into the background, and a son who hovers and coddles his mother. The lights are in your eyes, you can see the vacant look on this mother's face, the tears of a father, and the heavy emotions fill up all the empty space in the room and it's hard to breathe.
