Film Society of Lincoln Center Presents THE CANYONS & An Evening with Paul Schrader Tonight

The Film Society of Lincoln Center previously announced it would host An Evening with Paul Schrader tonight, July 29. The evening will include the World Premiere of Schrader's drama THE CANYONS, the highly anticipated first public screening of the film, which will then be followed by a conversation between Schrader and the New York Film Festival Program Director, Kent Jones.

Headlong will return to the Almeida Theatre following the critically acclaimed 2008 co-production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. The collaboration will continue in autumn 2013 with a new co-production - the World Premiere of American Psycho, with book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and music and lyrics by Duncan Sheik, based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis. American Psycho will be directed by Rupert Goold and produced in association with David Johnson and Jesse Singer at Act 4 Entertainment.

Last week I had the distinct pleasure of speaking to Tony Award-winning SPRING AWAKENING songwriter Duncan Sheik all about his staggering spate of upcoming stage projects - the musical stage adaptation of the controversial Bret Easton Ellis bestseller AMERICAN PSYCHO, as well as his Steven Sater collaborations on THE NIGHTENGALE, WHISPER HOUSE, MR. CHESS and ALICE included - in addition to all about his upcoming concert appearance on November 23 at the Gramercy Theatre. Additionally, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter also expounded upon his career thus far and we took a look back at some of his favorite scores and composers, as well as the individuals to have the most impact on him and how that has played out in both his theatre and recording career. In an Almeida and Headlong co-production, Lyndsey Turner will direct the world premiere of Lucy Kirkwood's Chimerica from 17 May - 29 June 2013, with press night on 23 May. Designs are by Es Devlin with lighting by Tim Lutkin and sound by Carolyn Downing. Casting for Chimerica will be announced shortly.

UK's Headlong Theatre to Produce AMERICAN PSYCHO in 2013?

According to UK theater company Headlong's 2012-2013 season announcement, the group will be producing playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Grammy and Tony-winning songwriter Duncan Sheik's musical American Psycho, based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis. Directed by Rupert Goold, the show will be a co-production with Act 4 Entertainment and The Collective. No word yet on where the production will be produced.
