Ogunquit Playhouse Kicks Off 80th Anniversary Season with Sally Struthers in ALWAYS PATSY CLINE, Now thru 6/16

The Ogunquit Playhouse, America's Foremost Summer Theatre, is set to celebrate its 80th Anniversary season today, May 23 to October 21, 2012. The lineup offers a mix of Broadway's most enduring musical classics, along with some of the hottest new shows on stage today. Executive Artistic Director, Bradford Kenney explains, "A milestone anniversary deserves a year made up of Broadway's greatest classics, retrospectives of the Playhouse's biggest hits, and of course a brand-new Broadway musical from one of America's greatest song writers, Dolly Parton."

ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE, Performs to Benefit Rotary International’s Fight Against Polio, May 31st

Rotary International invites all to join them and the Ogunquit Playhouse in the fight to eradicate Polio worldwide by purchasing a ticket to ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE, on "Rotary Night," Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Ogunquit Playhouse. For every ticket sold that evening, the Ogunquit Playhouse will donate a portion to the York Rotary Club. This year's goal is to raise over $5,000 to support Rotary International's goal of eliminating worldwide polio. Tickets start at $39 per person. The Ogunquit Playhouse is thrilled to announce that it received the Award for Outstanding Achievement in American Theatre from the New England Theatre Conference at their 59th Annual Convention, held this fall in New Haven, Connecticut. Jeff Watts, NETC President, presented Executive Artistic Director, Bradford Kenney an award recognizing the Playhouse as one of the most important cultural landmarks in New England. Among many the many accolades Mr. Watts shared with audience members, who represented theatres from all over New England, he thanked the Ogunquit Playhouse for producing the highest quality Broadway plays and musicals since 1933.

Robert has been associated with the Playhouse since 2002, first as the resident Production Stage Manager and then starting in 2008 as the Director of Production. As Associate Producer, Robert will oversee all theatrical operations for the 78-year-old company, named by the press as America's Foremost Summer Theatre.

For the first time in Ogunquit Playhouse history, the season has been extended past Columbus Day weekend to October 24. Now is the perfect time to see the multi Tony Award winning Broadway musical Chicago, which is receiving rave reviews from the press for its 'stellar casting,' 'sensational staging' and 'killer choreography.' This record-breaking smash hit stars Ogunquit favorite Sally Struthers, as Matron 'Mama' Morton, keeper of the jailhouse keys and George Dvorsky as the slick lawyer, Billy Flynn. Chicago also stars Broadway veteran Angie Schworer as housewife turned murderess Roxie Hart and Broadway's Rachelle Rak as the seductive night club singer and double murderess, Velma Kelly. Tony-Award winner Paul Kreppel also stars as Amos (aka Mr. Cellophane), Roxie's husband who agrees to take the blame for her violent crime.
