Trisha Brown Dance Company Launches 2017-18 Season

Trisha Brown Dance Company (TBDC) launches its 2017-2018 season with a busy calendar, showcasing masterpieces and other beloved works by one of the most influential choreographers from the postmodern era. Highlights include a week-long run at The Joyce Theater (December 12-17); live performances at New York City Center as part of the 2017 Fall for Dance Festival (October 2 & 3) and at Lincoln Center as part of Paul Taylor American Modern Dance's 2018 season (March 14, 16, 18 & 20); and touring in the U.S. and France. This fall also features a public Community Memorial honoring the life and work of Trisha Brown presented by Danspace Project. (October 28).
RAWdance Performs DOUBLE EXPOSURE at ODC, 10/26-28

After their sold-out world premiere at ODC Theater last summer, RAWdance returns next month in an encore presentation of DOUBLE EXPOSURE, the company's critically acclaimed program of duets representing more than a dozen West Coast choreographers. The Gish Prize Trust today announced that the widely influential, utterly inimitable Meredith Monk has been selected to receive the 24th annual Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize, in recognition of her ongoing achievements as a composer, singer and interdisciplinary artist. Established in 1994 through the will of legendary stage and screen actress Lillian Gish, known as the First Lady of Cinema, the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize is one of the most prestigious honors given to artists in the United States and bears one of the largest cash awards, currently valued at approximately $250,000.
