Warren Beatty will receive the American Film Institute's (AFI) 36th Life Achievement Award in a special ceremony airing on Wednesday, June 25 at 9/8C on USA Network. Barbra Streisand sent in a pre-recorded video message presenting the award to Mr. Beatty.
AFI TRIBUTE TO WARREN BEATTY
Warren Beatty will receive the American Film Institute's (AFI) 36th Life Achievement Award in a special ceremony airing on Wednesday, June 25 at 9/8C on USA Network.
The event will feature tributes from a number of Beatty's friends and colleagues-including Halle Berry, Don Cheadle, Faye Dunaway, Jane Fonda, Dustin Hoffman, Diane Keaton and Barbra Streisand among others. In addition, there will be special tributes from Gene Hackman, Goldie Hawn, Harvey Keitel, George McGovern, Quentin Tarantino and others. The evening will also feature performances from Pras and Earl Scruggs.

The AFI Life Achievement Award is regarded as the highest honor for a career in film. As the first award in the film community to acknowledge career achievement, the honor has been bestowed upon many of the greatest film artists in history such as Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, Barbra Streisand, Harrison Ford, Dustin Hoffman, Sean Connery, Steven Spielberg, Jack Nicholson, Elizabeth Taylor, Sidney Poitier, George Lucas, Gregory Peck, Barbara Stanwyck, Billy Wilder, Fred Astaire, James Stewart, Alfred Hitchcock, Bette Davis, Orson Welles, James Cagney and John Ford.

The Tony Awardâ-winning Manhattan Theatre Club (Peter J. Solomon, Chairman of the Board; Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove, Executive Producer) today announced it will rename its Broadway house, the landmarked Biltmore Theatre, the 'Samuel J. Friedman Theatre' in recognition of the pioneering Broadway publicist.
