Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces the winning selections of the 2009 TRU Voices New Plays Reading Series. In a series that is unique because it develops new producers as well as new plays, three works were chosen from submissions by emerging or established producers, as well as from writers who hoped to be matched with a producer. Fulfilling TRU's mission of nurturing the producer-writer relationship, each of the plays this year is either produced by, or with the assistance of, a member of the TRU Producer Mentorship program.

The TRU VOICES New Plays Reading Series is a unique series geared towards producers who have an interest in developing new plays. Shows selected will receive staged readings to be presented in the spring of 2009. Each reading will be followed by a 'Dollars and Sense' panel discussion with prominent New York producers, general managers and artistic directors focusing on potential venues, marketing and budgeting of the work. The series was created to help develop new plays and to help producers develop the skills needed to produce new works.

The series is unique because it develops new producers as well as new musicals, and in keeping true to its mission, the TRU talkbacks focus on producer concerns regarding the development of these works beyond the series. The panels will follow readings of the works on Mondays, December 8 and 15, 2008 at 7:30pm at the Players Theatre, located at 115 MacDougal Street, NYC.

Direct from a record breaking US tour, the Off-Broadway cult favorite The Great American Trailer Park Musical parks itself at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for 3 weeks this summer. Presented by New York based Producers Eva Price for Maximum Entertainment and Janet Pailet for P2 Creations, and West End producer Lee Menzies, this European premiere will be followed by a one week engagement at Live Nation's Alexander Theater in Birmingham,England in anticipation of a national tour throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland beginning in 2009.
