American Jewish Committee Berlin Urges German Government to Prioritize Return of Nazi Looted Art

Deidre Berger, director of the AJC Berlin Ramer Institute, is urging the German government to launch a concerted effort to restitute art stolen by the Nazi government from its rightful owners.Her call for action, in an interview with the online German newsmagazine Fokus, comes in the wake of the discovery in a Munich apartment of more than 1,400 paintings and artworks confiscated or purchased under value by Nazi officials. Most of the artworks are believed to have belonged to Jewish owners.

Kinky Boots producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig, along with the True Colors Fund, announced today that cast members from Kinky Boots, including stars Billy Porter, Stark Sands and Annaleigh Ashford, will join the show's Tony Award-winning composerCyndi Lauper for a special one-night-only True Colors Cabaret, on Monday, December 16th at 7:00 PM at Birdland (315 W 44th St). Lauper will join the cast of Kinky Boots to perform an eclectic array of standards, pop hits and other songs, with musical direction by the show's Tony Award-winning orchestrator Stephen Oremus. The evening will benefit the True Colors Fund, the organization Lauper co-founded to raise awareness about and bring an end to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth homelessness, and to inspire everyone, especially straight people, to become active participants in the advancement of equality for all.

The romantic comedy Parfumerie, adapted by E.P. Dowdall from the Hungarian playIllatszertar by Miklos Laszlo, will have a rare revival as the first theater production of the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (Lou Moore, Executive Director), for a limited, 29 performance engagement November 26 to December 22. The production, directed by Mark Brokaw, who is currently represented on Broadway with Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, centers on a romance that unfolds through love letters, a perfect homage to the historic Beverly Hills Post Office.
