Am 25. Februar feierte das Gartnerplatztheater Munchen mit Galt MacDermots Rock Musical HAIR Premiere in der Reithalle. In keinem Musical wurden die Ideale der Hippie-Generation so auf den Punkt gebracht wie in diesem Broadway-Hit von 1967. 47 Jahre nach der skandalumwitterten deutschen Erstauffuhrung im Oktober 1968 im Munchner Theater in der Brienner Straße ist das Hippie-Happening jetzt wieder in Munchen zu erleben - mit der großartigen Rockmusik von damals, neu in Szene gesetzt von Gil Mehmert und Melissa King.  Das Publikum bei der Premiere war euphorisch, und wegen der extrem großen Nachfrage wurde inzwischen noch eine Zusatzvorstellung anberaumt. Vorstellungen laufen noch bis 17 Marz, mit der Sondervorstellung am 12 Marz. Die Presse zeigte sich ahnlich begeistert von diesem betagten amerikanischen Klassiker, der heute wieder erschreckend aktuell ist. Das hatten die Kritiker zu sagen:

Vineyard Theatre, in association with La Jolla Playhouse and Yale Repertory Theatre, will present the New York premiere of INDECENT, a new play with music, written by Paula Vogel, created by Paula Vogel and Rebecca Taichman, and directed by Rebecca Taichman, at The Vineyard (108 East 15th Street) with previews beginning April 27 and opening night set for May 17. INDECENT features music composed by Lisa Gutkin (KLEZMATICS) and Aaron Halva (RED NOSES) and choreography by David Dorfman (GREEN VIOLIN). 

Kansas City Repertory Theatre will continue its 2015-16 season with The Fantasticks, directed by Kansas City Repertory Theatre's Producing Director Jerry Genochio.

Am Gartnerplatztheater Munchen fand am vergangenen Donnerstag die Premiere von HAIR in der Reithalle statt. Auf der Buhne stehen unter anderem Dominik Hees, Bettina Monch, David Jakobs und Christina Patten. The Town Hall presented From Moses to Mostel: A History of The Jews (According to Musical Theater), a premiere chronological history of the Jewish people as depicted on stage and in song and Broadwayworld was there. Hosted by comedian/actor/singer Robert Klein and written by playwright Glen Berger, From Moses to Mostel also featured musical director Frank London and an ensemble of special guests, including The Klezmatics, performing music from Broadway, off-Broadway, Yiddish Theatre and more.

The Town Hall presents From Moses to Mostel: A History of The Jews (According to Musical Theater), a premiere chronological history of the Jewish people as depicted on stage and in song, today Saturday, February 27 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $45.

James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director of York Theater Company has announced that as part of its Developmental Reading Series, it will present Erik Ransom's 'More Than All the World' an epic musical inspired by Christopher Marlowe's 'Edward II' directed by Rachel Klein ('Around the World in 80 Days', 'The Anthem') with music direction and arrangements by Andy Peterson ('Atomic'). The reading will take place on March 15th at 2PM.

MediaRites, a nonprofit organization that provides innovative, award-winning radio, theatre and documentary programs, today announced that it will produce The Language Archive, written by award-winning playwright and television writer, Julia Cho. MediaRites' Theatre Diaspora produces staged readings focusing on Asian American identity and cultural issues, providing visibility and engaging audiences in insightful talkback discussions on cultural diversity.

In advance of the February 26th release of her new album 99¢, Santigold has partnered with NPR First Listen offering fans a chance to stream it early.

Playwrights Horizons, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sanford and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, just announced the six productions of its 2016/2017 Season. The six new works will be presented at the theater company's home at 416 West 42nd Street.

The Metropolitan Opera's 2016-17 season, the 50th anniversary of its home at Lincoln Center, will feature 225 opera performances of 26 operas in a varied repertory that ranges from 18th century masterpieces to one of the most acclaimed operas in recent years. Repertoire for the company's 132nd season will include the Met premiere of Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho's 2000 opera L'Amour de Loin, as well as new stagings of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde, Rossini's Guillaume Tell, Gounod's Romeo et Juliette, Dvo?ak's Rusalka, and Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier. A gala concert on May 7, 2017 will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company's Lincoln Center location with performances by opera's leading stars honoring the Met's past and future. Ticket prices will not increase, remaining the same as in the current season, and audience development programs instituted by the company in recent years will continue.
