Martha Lorin returns to the Metropolitan Room for a special jazz afternoon, 'My Mother's Favorite Songs', featuring Bassist: Harvie S, Alto sax: Ralph Lalama, and Pianist: Richard Siegel. The concert will run for one show only on Sunday, May 12th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.

The Madame Walker Theatre Center will present the Monterey Jazz Festival tonight, March 26, 2013 on the Main Stage in the historic 937 seat theatre.

The 9th Annual Next Generation Jazz Festival Presented by Monterey Jazz Festival takes place April 5-7, 2013, at the Monterey Conference Center. The weekend-long event includes Big Bands, Combos, Vocal Ensembles, and individual musicians vying for a spot on the stages of the 56th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival. The event will be open to the public, free of charge.

Celebrating the 55th anniversary of the longest consecutively running jazz festival in the world,The Monterey Jazz Festival takes its show on the road and arrives in Philadelphia at the Merriam Theater tonight, February 2, 2013at 8 p.m. A power house line up of talent- Dee Dee Bridgewater, Philly native Christian McBride, Benny Green, Lewis Nash, and Chris Potter, and Ambrose Akinmusire-the program reflects a perfect mixture of old and new, vocal and instrumental, bee bop, fusion, free and soul jazz.

All three evenings include Golijov's Azul, featuring rising young cellist Joshua Roman, as well as hyper-accordionist Michael Ward-Bergeman, and percussionists Jamey Haddad and Keita Ogawa. The three evenings close with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, "Pathetique," what many consider to be the composer's most profound symphony. The Saturday and Sunday programs open with Barber's Essay No. 2.
