Rock Musical CHESS Set To Play Gallery Players

Gallery Players announces the final show of its 51st season, the timely classic, Chess. It is an epic story set at the height of the Cold War, where two great chess masters-an American and a Russian-meet in Bangkok to battle for the world championship... but their greatest contest is for the love of one woman.

BWW Review: THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT at the Stratford Festival is Unsettlingly Exhilarating

The very last production to ever open at the current incarnation of the Stratford Festival's Tom Patterson Theatre was David Edney's translation of Jean Giraudoux's THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT. Directed by Donna Feore, this was the world premiere of this translation. It boasts an excellent company and it explores themes and issues that are certainly relevant today.

BWW Review: THE CHANGELING at the Stratford Festival is Disturbing and Exhilarating

This season at the Stratford Festival has proven to be a stellar one, and Jackie Maxwell's production of Thomas Middleton and William Rowley's THE CHANGELING on the Tom Patterson Theatre stage is no exception. The questionable morals and values of the characters, and the intense relationships between certain characters leave the audience feeling uncomfortable (as was likely intended by the playwrights) but the performances by the members of the company and the overall impact of the production itself, leaves the audience feeling exhilarated.

BWW Review: Stratford Festival's TIMON OF ATHENS is a Powerful Cautionary Tale

TIMON OF ATHENS opened at Stratford Festival's Tom Patterson Theatre on Friday night. It is probably one of the more relatable cautionary tales that Shakespeare has produced, which explains why the Festival continues to have it set in modern times. Director, Stephen Ouimette takes this production on for a second time, as he also directed it in Stratford in 2004. I did not have the opportunity to see his previous production, but this one is impressive.

The Gallery Players presents RAGTIME

Gallery Players announces the final show of its 50th season with the critically acclaimed and timely, Ragtime.  At the dawn of a new century, everything is changing…and anything is possible.  Ragtime comes to Brooklyn, a show which Bloomberg News has hailed as "explosive, thrilling and nothing short of a masterpiece.

BWW Review: Fiona Reid Shines in THE AUDIENCE

Fans of The Crown on Netflix will love The Audience. In fact, they share the same writer (Peter Morgan wrote the Netflix series and is the playwright) though the projects are separated by a few years of development. In fact, some of the dialogue from the Netflix show is clearly lifted from the play.

BWW Interview: Stephen Ferri of TARZAN at White Plains Performing Arts Center

In this day and age of constant human brutality and tragedy, the story of TARZAN reminds us of what's really important, especially at the holidays, the unconditional love of true family, whether biological or chosen. And although we all 'look' different, under the skin we are just the same. Disney's TARZAN is victorious in bringing to the stage a well-known story with unforgettable melodies and heart-pumping music perfect for the entire family! - Jeremy Quinn, Director

Check out photos from the event below!

BWW Reviews: Stratford Festival's THE TAMING OF THE SHREW is a Must See

Shakespeare fans will be flocking to an exciting production of THE TAMING OF THE SHREW that is featured on the Festival Theatre stage at the Stratford Festival this season. Director Chris Abraham's recent contributions to the festival (particularly last season's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM) left patrons wondering what surprises he had up his sleeve for this production. Although SHREW was not altered nearly as much as MIDSUMMER was, Mr. Abraham certainly had fun with the first few scenes and also skillfully managed to find the right tone for what is one of Shakespeare's more unsettling comedies.

BWW Review: A Star is Born in Stratford's THE SOUND OF MUSIC

It's rare that you walk out of a show knowing you've witnessed history - and that is just what those seeing The Sound of Music at The Stratford Festival will be experiencing. Stratford's staging of the classic show, by director/choreographer Donna Feore will be talked about for years to come.

BLOG: Week 4 of The Road to Opening Stratford's THE SOUND OF MUSIC

It's here!! Tonight is the Opening of the 2015 Stratford Festival! I'm so excited to celebrate the season with my family and friends tonight, but I can't celebrate too much because THE SOUND OF MUSIC opens tomorrow night.
