Lionel Richie Named 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year

Lionel Richie will be honored as the 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, it was announced today by Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the MusiCares Foundation and The Recording Academy, and Bill Silva, Chair of the MusiCares Foundation Board. Proceeds from the 26th annual benefit gala dinner and concert - to be held in Los Angeles during GRAMMY Week two nights prior to the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards - will provide essential support for MusiCares (www.musicares.org), which ensures that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.

With a mind-boggling array of wigs and on-stage costume changes, Bishop effervescently evokes Joan Rivers, Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland, Cher and many, many more. The versatile and outrageously talented 2015 MAC Award Nominee is a graduate of the Yale University School of Music, launched a career as a lyric soprano singing diva roles from Lucia di Lammermoor to Madame Butterfly in New York, was a guest soloist with New York Pops at Carnegie Hall and toured with Faye Dunaway in the first national Broadway tour of Master Class.

The first Circuit Playhouse show of the 2015 - 2016 season is the hit comedy Buyer and Cellar. This one-man show explores the world of Alex More, a struggling L.A. actor who accepts a job working in Barbra Streisand's basement. Hilarity ensues when, one day, Barbara herself comes downstairs to play. This outrageous, smart, and award winning comedy examines the cult of celebrity in such a way that The New Yorker raves that it is "so delightful that you wish it were true."

Arnold Scaasi, Canadian fashion designer who created ensembles for the rich and famous, died yesterday, August 4, 2015. He was 85. Scaasi crafted one of his most recognized, and perhaps infamous, outfits for stage and screen star Barbra Streisand. She wore it to the 1969 Academy Awards, where she won the Oscar for her performance in the film FUNNY GIRL.
