THE SOUND OF MUSIC Nuns Visit A Real Nunnery, Audra McDonald Included

The holiest of participants in the highly anticipated new NBC live TV production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic family-friendly musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC took a very special field trip this week in order to conduct some real-life research into their roles as women of faith.

THE MEETING* Hosted by Justin Sayre to Honor GREY GARDENS at 54 BELOW, 11/20

Fresh from the success of Night of a Thousand Judys, The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre - the acclaimed comedy/variety show hailed as "rambunctious, uproarious and unpredictable" by The Wall Street Journal, "delicious and delightfully droll" by The New York Post, and "hilarious and sardonic" by The Village Voice - has moved to 54 BELOW for a six month run. The next show will be on Wednesday, November 20 at 9:30 PM. Known for its signature blend of outrageous comedy, politics, culture and everything in between, The Meeting* moves uptown after four seasons of packed houses in the West Village. Justin Sayre and The Meeting* were named one of the Top 10 nightclub shows of 2011 by Time Out New York, received the 2012 Bistro Award for "Comedy Artistry" and a 2011 MAC Award nomination for Best Male Comedy Performance.

John Tartaglia Set for New York Pops' A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS, 12/21; Steven Reineke to Conduct

On Saturday, December 21 at 2:00PM in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute presents A Charlie Brown Christmas in a special holiday Family Concert with The New York Pops and Music Director Steven Reineke. This staged concert version of Charles M. Schulz's iconic television special brings the beloved Peanuts characters to life through special choreography performed by dancers from New York Theatre Ballet and child actors from TADA! Youth Theater. Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia (Avenue Q, Sesame Street) narrates the heart-warming story, underscored by the music of Vince Guaraldi, performed by The New York Pops and Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA.

Ashley Brown, Steven Reineke Set for New York Pops' UNDER THE MISTLETOE at Carnegie Hall, 12/19-20

On December 19 and 20, 2013 at 8:00 PM, The New York Pops will present an evening full of holiday cheer at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage with Ashley Brown and Essential Voices USA. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke - described by The New York Times as a "polished, welcoming host" who is "young and vigorous, with a playful attitude" - will lead the orchestra and guest artist Ashley Brown in a festive concert featuring traditional favorites and new holiday hits.

Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco finished her trip to the United States at the Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGF-USA) Awards Gala last night at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York. HSH Princess Charlene presented the Prince Rainier III Award to Cicely Tyson, which recognizes a renowned leader in the arts whose own accomplishments are coupled with demonstrated service to the performing arts. Montego Glover, Dave Bennett & More Set for SING SING SWING at Carnegie Hall Tonight

Tonight, November 1, 2013, The New York Pops continues its 31st season in a return to the days when big bands ruled the dance floor with Tony Award nominee Montego Glover and Dave Bennett, clarinet, guest artists, joining the orchestra in an all-swing program, featuring a tribute to the 75th anniversary of Benny Goodman's legendary live recording at Carnegie Hall.
