'A Thousand Variations' To Be Presented At Midtown Festival

Memories are fragile, powerful and poignant. They recall promises from earlier times, hold the specter of wounds left unhealed, and have the ability to direct the course of one's life, as shown in Stacey Lane's comedy-drama A THOUSAND VARIATIONS ON A LIE TOLD ONCE. Directed by Brad Fryman and presented by the Oberon Theatre Ensemble, A THOUSAND VARIATIONS will begin performances on July 19th at the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre, located at 312 West 36th Street, as part of the Ninth Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival.

New Repertory Theatre announces the extension of My Name is Rachel Corrie. My Name is Rachel Corrie and Pieces, two solo plays, each about a young woman whose coming of age took place within the context of the Israeli/Palestinian situation run in rotating repertory until March 30, 2008. My Name is Rachel Corrie will extend until April 5, 2008. Both shows play at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in Watertown.

Frost/Nixon, the Tony Award winning new play by Peter Morgan, will embark on a national tour with award winning actor Stacy Keach, portraying the role of President Richard Nixon.

'Nine' Filming Postponed Due to Writers' Strike

Variety reports that due to the writers' strike, production on the up-coming Rob Marshall movie musical adaptation of Nine has been postponed to 2008. The actors attached to The Weinstein Co. project will remain intact, though it was announced earlier this week that actress Catherine Zeta-Jones had withdrawn from the film.
