Pittsburgh CLO Announces 2013 Summer Season

Pittsburgh CLO is one of the few regional theaters selected by Disney to produce The Little Mermaid. From the depths of the sea to the shores of America, this rockin' season will also feature Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story, a toe-tapping trip to the heart of 1950s rock and roll with the man, the music and the legend. This year, through special arrangement with The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Pittsburgh CLO Season Ticket Buyers will enjoy priority seating to Disney's The Lion King, part of the PNC Broadway Across America series. In addition to these spectacular headliners, CLO's 2013 season will also feature dynamic new productions of 42nd Street, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Kopit & Yeston's Phantom.

Performance Network’s Fireside New Play Festival Announces December Festival Lineup

Performance Network Theatre, Ann Arbor's professional theatre known for bringing Michigan audiences the hottest new scripts from New York and beyond, is proud to announce the December installment of its Fireside New Play Festival, showcasing four full-length plays as from emerging American playwrights. These new plays have been selected from hundreds of submissions and will be showcased to the public at Performance Network from Sunday, December 2 through Wednesday, December 5 in developmental performances known as a "staged readings."

Sean McDermott, Cady Huffman, Nellie McKay Featured in Two Readings at Inge Center, 11/3

Nellie McKay, Cady Huffman, and Sean McDermott and additional guest artists contribute their talents to the public reading of a new play and musical at the William Inge Center for the Arts. The readings are at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sat. Nov. 3 at the William Inge Theatre at Independence Community College, Independence, Kansas.

Alhambra Theatre Presents PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Tonight, 10/10

Since Lon Chaney first wore the mask for silent film audiences in 1925, filmmakers and stage producers have been drawn to Gaston Leroux's novel, "The Phantom of the Opera." The Alhambra Theatre & Dining will open Phantom tonight, October 10 with what director Todd Booth calls the theater's biggest, most lavish production ever. Phantom is presented by The Brumos Companies.

Review Roundup: Atlantis Productions' NINE, Now thru Oct 7

Prolific theater company Atlantis Productions Inc.'s VIPs, Bobby Garcia and Chari Arespacochaga, have been running in the fast lane lately: Both had to fly out to Singapore to direct and prepare to open Tony-winning musical AVENUE Q at Marina Bay Sands over the weekend, just a few days after they premiered another Tony-winning musical, NINE, last friday night at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium.

In Atlantis Productions' staging of the Broadway musical NINE, which features Maury Yeston's music and lyrics, and Arthur Kopit's book based on Federico Fellini's semi-autobiographical film 8 1/2, Jett Pangan plays Italian filmmaker Guido Contini; Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo plays Contini's wife, Luisa; Cherie Gil plays Contini's film producer, Liliane Le Fleur; and Eula Valdez plays Contini's leading lady, Claudia Jenssen.

The Lark Play Development Center Names Playwrights’ Workshop Fellows

The Lark Play Development Center named five New York City-based dramatists as Playwrights' Workshop Fellows for the 2012-13 season. The group spans a wide range of cultural backgrounds and professional experiences and will meet regularly through June to develop new plays.

THE THREE PHANTOMS Plays Pacific Symphony Tonight, 7/21

Softly, deftly, music shall caress you…hear it, feel it secretly possess you… Three powerhouse voices from Broadway's longest-running musical, "The Phantom of the Opera," join Pacific Symphony to deliver a revue of Broadway favorites for "The Three Phantoms-Broadway's Biggest Hits!," the second concert of the Symphony's Summer Festival 2012, sponsored by Hoag. Led by Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman, the orchestra accompanies Craig Schulman, Ted Keegan and Gary Mauer -three extraordinary performers who have all played the title role of the Phantom-in the soaring melodies from Andrew Lloyd Webber's phenomenon, plus blockbusters from other shows that made them stars. Playwright Jack Richardson, known for his work on and off Broadway in the 1960s, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012. He was 78.

World Premiere of 3C Opens at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Tonight, 6/21

piece by piece productions, Rising Phoenix Repertory, and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater have announced that the world premiere of 3C, written by David Adjmi and directed by Jackson Gay, opens tonight Thursday, June 21 at 7pm at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place.
