Madison Square Park Conservancy to Host Dreaming Public Art Symposium, 5/24

On Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 7:30PM to 10:00PM, Madison Square Park Conservancy and School of Visual Arts will host Dreaming Public Art, a free symposium featuring a keynote conversation with artist Martin Puryear and Columbia University art historian Dr. Kellie Jones. Martin Puryear's Big Bling will be on view in Madison Square Park from May 16, 2016 through January 8, 2017.

Martha Tedeschi to Leave Art Institute of Chicago for Harvard Art Museums

James Rondeau, President and Eloise W. Martin Director of the Art Institute of Chicago, confirmed last month that the museum's Deputy Director for Art and Research Martha Tedeschi, after months of careful consideration, has accepted an appointment to become the next Elizabeth and John Moors Cabot Director of the Harvard Art Museums.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Announces Full Schedule for Upcoming 39th Season

Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry to Present THE BUREAU OF SMALL REQUESTS

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will present the grand opening of The Bureau of Small Requests: Puppetry and Animation of Laura Heit on Saturday, April 23, 2016, with refreshments served at 4:30 p.m. and a tour by puppeteer, visual artist, and filmmaker Laura Heit at 5:00 p.m. All events will take place at the Ballard Institute, located at 1 Royce Circle in Storrs, Connecticut.  At 6:30 p.m. in the Ballard Institute Theater. Heit will perform one of her critically acclaimed puppet productions and screen a selection of her short films. 

Regina Taylor, HBO & More to be Honored at Chicago International Television Awards

Cinema/Chicago and the Chicago International Film Festival honor the best in television programming and commercials at the 52nd Chicago International Television Awards April 20, 2016. Capping off a newly programmed three-day event of special screenings and panel discussions celebrating the importance and excellence in work being created for television, the annual awards ceremony will pay special tribute to some of the most respected, acclaimed personalities and entities working in television today. Receiving special awards this year are Director, Playwright and Emmy Award-Winning Actor Regina Taylor; Entertainment Reporter Janet Davies; Entertainment Reporter Bill Zwecker; and HBO. The celebratory evening, hosted by WGN's Dan Ponce and Robin Robinson, begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception at Lucky Strike Lounge (322 E. Illinois St.) followed by the Awards Ceremony at 7:30 p.m.

Lake FX to Welcome National Arts Leaders to Chicago

The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) is pleased to announce the second-annual Lake FX Summit + Expo, the Midwest's largest FREE convening of artists and creative entrepreneurs, May 13-15. National Portrait Gallery to Present Leon Golub Portrait Exhibit, Today

Striking portraits of some of the twentieth century's most powerful leaders including Castro, Pinochet and Brezhnev by the American artist Leon Golub are to go on display at the National Portrait Gallery on 18 March, it was announced today (Monday 14 March.) They are being shown for the first time in the United Kingdom.
