Goodman Theatre presents four free staged readings of new plays developed in the Playwrights Unit, a season-long residency program for local writers who meet twice monthly with members of the theater's artistic staff to discuss their plays in progress. Out of this process emerges four brand new plays, which appear in FREE staged readings: Sleeping with the Prince of Darkness: The Imagined Pillow Talk of FBI Agent John O'Neill by Greg Allen (July 20 at 7:30pm); F(law)less by christopher oscar peña (July 21 at 2:30pm); Prowess by Ike Holter (July 21 at 7:30pm); and Ninth Man Out by Alice Austen (August 16 at 7:30pm).

Due to popular demand and sold-out houses (the first two performances are completely sold out), the 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival and Angel Wings NYC production of THE AWAKENING OF ANGEL DELUNA has added a performance on Wednesday, July 17 at 5:00pm. THE AWAKENING OF ANGEL DELUNA, an official selection of the 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival, is an original new musical set against the backdrop of a Depression era family circus. As part of the National Civil War Project, the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) presents The Proclamation Project, directed by Shira Milikowsky, tonight, July 12 at 7 p.m. at the historic Strand Theatre, 543 Columbia Road, Dorchester, MA and Saturday, July 13 at 2 p.m. at OBERON, 2 Arrow Street, Cambridge.

Geoffrey Arend will lead the cast as Professor Bert Rufus. Arend's film and television credits include Garden State, Supertroopers, (500) Days of Summer, Save the Date, Beach Pillows, Devil, The Ringer, 'The Closer' (TNT), 'Law & Order' (NBC), 'Trust Me' (TNT) and 'Body of Proof' (ABC). Onstage he was seen in The American Pilot (MTC) and Mother Courage and Her Children (Public).

Wasps will run from July 24th through July 28th at the Connelly Theater. July 24th- 26th performances are at 8pm, July 27th at 5pm and 9pm, and July 28th at 2pm. The Boy Sonata, written and performed by Justin Sayre will recieve it's New York debut at this Year's HOT! Festival hosted by Dixon Place on Monday, July 22nd at 7:30. The Boy Sonata, written in 5 parts, details seminal moments in the life of it's central character, 'The Boy.' Mimicking Sonata Form, the series of monologues travel with the boy from ages 6 to 17, each pinpointing a day, an hour, or a moment when things become much more beautifully and tragically complicated. The Boy Sonata is a heartbreakingly funny tribute to the voice of a child as he develops his individual understanding of a world.

Joshua William Gelb and David McGee present PARTY IN THE USA, directed by Joshua William Gelb and written by David McGee, at the Incubator Arts Project, running July 19 through the 28th. The cast features: Featuring: John Gasper, Eric Clem, Laura Moss, Wil Petre, and Caleb Hammond?.

Carner and Gregor have announced the winners of the BARELY LEGAL SHOWTUNE EXTRAVAGANZA V casting contest. Eight winners were selected from over 100 submissions received from college students around the country. Winners were selected by a four-person judging panel comprised of Casting Directors Michael Cassara and Jason Najjoum, Concert Director Marlo Hunter, and Concert Producer Alina Gutierrez. Carner and Gregor were not involved in the judging process. After four sold-out editions, Carner & Gregor's BARELY LEGAL SHOWTUNE EXTRAVAGANZA is back for its fifth year. The concert will take place Monday, August 5th at (le) Poisson Rouge. Showtime is 8PM. Doors open at 7PM.

Fresh from the success of Night of a Thousand Judys, The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre - the acclaimed comedy/variety show hailed as "rambunctious, uproarious and unpredictable" by The Wall Street Journal, "delicious and delightfully droll" by The New York Post, and "hilarious and sardonic" by The Village Voice - will move to 54 BELOW for a six month run starting on July 24.

David Abeles (Once, Original Cast Member) will take over the role of 'Pierre' in the hit downtown production of NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 beginning tonight, July 9th. Dave Malloy, the show's creator, played his final performance as 'Pierre' on June 21st, as he leaves to work on several new projects including commissions from LCT3, San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater, and the Youth Musical Theater Company in Berkeley, as well as upcoming shows at the Incubator Arts Project and The Bushwick Starr.

Jonathan Whitton (Bistro & MAC Award Winner, HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH) continues his critically lauded concert residency with guitarist AaRon Jones at Don't Tell Mama. BLACK SHEEP CARNIVAL. BLACK SHEEP CARNVAL will play the Brick Room at Don't Tell Mama every first Monday through 2013 with dates scheduled for today, July 8, August 5, September 2, October 7, November 4, & December 2. The Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) at Shepherd University has announced the five-play repertory for its 23rd season of producing and developing new American theater. The four-week festival, consisting of 94 performances and other programming, will be held July 5 - 28 on the Shepherd University campus in Shepherdstown, WV.
