The Kleban Foundation has announced the recipients of the 29th Annual Kleban Prize for Musical Theatre. The judges declared a tie in the most promising musical theatre lyricist category between Sarah Hammond and Shaina Taub. The Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Charlie Sohne. The 2019 prizes will be presented on Monday, February 4, 2018, in a private ceremony (by invitation only) hosted by ASCAP and BMI at ASCAP.

Long Wharf Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Jacob G. Padron and Managing Director Joshua Borenstein, presents Miller, Mississippi, by Boo Killebrew, directed by Lee Sunday Evans, from January 9 through February 2, 2019.

The world premiere of the new off-Broadway play Eco Village has found its cast and design team. Loosely based on the experiences of playwrightPhoebe Nir at the Bread and Puppet Theater, Eco Village explores the complexities of community and the boundaries of human behavior. The show will play at The Theatre at St. Clement's, 423 W. 46th Street, New York, NY 10036 from January 15-February 16 2019. Eco Village will preview from January 15-21, with opening night on January 24. With the dust settled from midterm elections and freshman members of Congress learning to navigate the maze of Capitol Hill 2.5 miles away, Studio Theatre presents Kings, part of its Studio X series, written by Alexandria, VA native Sarah Burgess and directed by Marti Lyons. With a deft hand at the fast talk and power dynamics of lawmaking and fundraising, Burgesss play is a swamp tour of the Beltway power-broking that fuels her hometown. A Susan Smith Blackburn Prize finalist, Burgess quickly rose to notoriety exploring the cutthroat world of finance in her breakout play, Dry Powder, at the Public Theater in New York, which starred Claire Danes, John Krasinski, and Hank Azaria.

Back by popular demand, On The Rocks Theatre Company remounts their festive holiday bar pageant, Edelweiss, in the Dixon Place Lounge. The production is written by On The Rocks co-founders Christopher Ford & Dakota Rose with original music by their frequent collaborator Andrew R. Butler. Ms. Rose helms the production as director. Edelweiss will play four performances only - December 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd at 7:30p, in the Dixon Place Lounge. Admission is FREE. Tickets can be reserved by visiting www.dixonplace.org.

This winter, the University of Washington School of Drama will present two works by eminent female dramatists, Rutherford and Son by Githa Sowerby, and In the Heart of America by Naomi Wallace.
