I Need Some Space: The Lyrics of Robby Sandler, returning to the Laurie Beechman Theatre on Monday, May 19th at 7 pm, after a sold out debut this past July, features the talents of Mariand Torres (The Great Comet, Wicked), Ken Clark (The Great Comet, February House), Andrew Keltz (The Golden Land), Lizzie Hagstedt (Southern Comfort, Sweeney Todd), Shoshanna Richman (I Heart NY, Fiddler), and Ariana Shore (The Performers). The hour long evening of music by the BMI lyricist is produced by Rudy Scala and features a number of composer collaborators including Daniel Green, Lizzie Hagstedt, Jonathan Monro, and Andy Roninson. With its sexist plot, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM is one of those shows that probably was a riot in 1962, but seems like something is lacking when presented a half century later - until the CT Repertory version running as part of the Nutmeg Summer Series. This one, thanks to some solid performances, is funny again.
