New York City Opera to Present Dominick Argento's 90th Birthday Concert

New York City Opera will honor the 90th birthday of Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer Dominick Argento with a concert featuring two of his one-act operas on November 9, 2017 at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall. Soprano Heather Buck will perform Miss Havisham's Wedding Night and baritone Aaron Engebreth will sing A Water Bird Talk with Gil Rose conducting the New York City Opera Orchestra.

The second production scheduled for American Repertory Theater of WNY's 2017-18 season features American playwright Aaron Posner's 2013 adaptation of Anton Chekhov's 1896 play THE SEAGULL entitled Stupid F**CKING BIRD. Directed by ART/WNY alumni Michael Lodick (JESUS HATES ME), STUPID F**CKING BIRD will open on October 19th and run to November 11th.

On Her Shoulders is pleased to present a staged reading of THE CAMP by Griselda Gambaro, directed by Kristin Heckler on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Doors open at 6:45pm for a prompt start at 7:00pm with The Play in Context Introduction by Melody Brooks, who situates the script in its historical time and place.
Fortune's Fool To Produce THE LADY WITH A LAP DOG

Fortune's Fool Theatre will produce the world premiere of a new musical, The Lady with a Lap Dog, book and lyrics by Daniel Pinkerton and music by Robert Elhai, adapted from the story by Anton Chekhov. It will be performed at the Open Eye Figure Theatre in Minneapolis for 8 performances only from September 15-24. The production will star the outstanding singing actors Andrea Leap as Anna, Joel Liestman as Dmitri, and Laurel Armstrong as the four other characters. It will be directed by Nicole Wilder and music directed by Jill Dawe.

REBEL AND MISFITS PRODUCTIONS is thrilled to announce 'Uncle Vanya: Valiantly Accepting Next Year's Agony,' the second piece in its' series called The Immersive Theatre Project. This production, directed by Kelly Hummert, Artistic Director of the company, will feature a two-hour interpretation of Russian playwright Anton Chekhov's 'Uncle Vanya.' The event will run for two weeks, Today through Monday, from August 24 through September 3 at a private residence at 110 Dielman Road in Ladue.
