Capital Punishment, Ben Stiller's High School Post-Punk Band Album ROADKILL Reissued by Captured Tracks Out Friday

If I were to tell you that a band of NYC teenagers who met in 1979 decided to form a band influenced by Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, Eno, Chrome and all sorts of proto-industrial music, it would be enough to pique your interest. If you learned they went to the lengths of recording an album while in high school without a label or distribution and actually pressed a couple hundred copies, even weirder. Now those records sell for hundreds of dollars on the collector's market, which perhaps isn't unusual for such a rare record. You would expect the unlikely story of Capital Punishment's Roadkill to end there-which would be cool enough. Except it doesn't.

Rivendell Announces Casting And Opening Date For SCIENTIFIC METHOD

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE), Chicago's only Equity theatre dedicated to producing new work with women at the core, presents the World Premiere of Scientific Method by Jenny Connell Davis, directed by Devon de Mayo, and featuring RTE Member Ashley Neal, with Glenn Obrero, Josh Odor, Courtney Williams and Carmen Roman. Scientific Method runs October 19 - December 2, 2018, at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Ridge Avenue in Chicago.  The press opening is Tuesday October 30, 2018 at 7:00pm.

The Television Academy tonight presented the 2018 Creative Arts Emmy Awards Ceremonies on Saturday and Sunday night honoring outstanding artistic and technical achievement in television at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The Saturday ceremony, which kicked-off the 70th Emmys, awarded many talented artists and craftspeople in the categories of animation, scripted programming including comedy, drama and limited series. The Sunday ceremony honored performers, artists and craftspeople for excellence in variety, nonfiction or reality programming, reality competition programming, music, choreography, as well as documentary or nonfiction specials, informational series or specials.

October Programming Announced At The Royal Conservatory Of Music

Koerner Hall's 10th Anniversary Opening Festival continues with Kathleen Battle, The Academy of St Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble, Yannick Nezet-Seguin conducting the Orchestre Metropolitain and Nicholas Angelich, and the debuts by northern Canadian groups The Jerry Cans and New North Collective Royal Conservatory alumnus Chilly Gonzales returns to Koerner Hall, Lunasa and The Bombadils in a double-bill concert as part of the Roots and Folk series, Jamey Haddad's Under One Sun and Cyro Baptista's Vira Loucos open the World Music series Quiet Please, There's a Lady on Stage series opens with Amanda Martinez and Kellylee Evans. Seong-Jin Cho makes his Koerner Hall debut in a sold out concert.

More Stars Announced for the Stand Up To Cancer Telecast

Stand Up To Cancer's sixth biennial telecast on Friday, Sept. 7 (8:00 – 9:00 p.m. EDT/PDT), has added more names to its star-studded lineup. Jason Bateman, Beth Behrs, Julie Bowen, Josh Brolin, Kaley Cuoco, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Max Greenfield, Jon Hamm, Mark Harmon, Sarah Hyland, Adam Klein, Tyler Labine, Diego Luna, Sonequa Martin-Green, Dave Price, Keanu Reeves, Tracee Ellis Ross, Winona Ryder, Jimmy Smits, Eric Stonestreet, Alison Sweeney, Bree Turner, Sofia Vergara and Marlon Wayans are coming together in the fight against cancer. They join an extraordinary list of previously announced participants including Mahershala Ali, Kathy Bates, Katie Couric, Jennifer Garner, Tony Hale, Marg Helgenberger, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Marlee Matlin, Matthew McConaughey, Maria Menounos, Jillian Michaels, Trevor Noah, Dak Prescott, Italia Ricci, Rob Riggle, Karla Souza, David Spade and Keith Urban. The telecast will feature three musical performances, one by 25-time GRAMMY Award winner and activist Stevie Wonder, one by GRAMMY-winning and six-time reigning CMA Country Vocal Group Little Big Town, as well as one by 11-time GRAMMY nominee and cancer survivor Charlie Wilson. 

San Francisco Early Music Society Announces 2018-19 Season
