Amy Ryan, Michael Urie, Harriet Harris & More Set for PLAYING ON AIR at BRIC House

Playing on Air, a public radio show featuring recordings of select contemporary short American plays, returns to BRIC House for a new season of performances. Nine short plays by notable American playwrights (three per evening) will be recorded live at BRIC House, 647 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn on October 20, 27 and December 1 at 7:30pm.

Goodman Theatre's SMOKEFALL Opens Tonight

Goodman Theatre begins its landmark 90th season with an All-New Fall, two months of new American plays, each of which was developed in the theater's new play programs. Tonight, Smokefall -- playwright Noah Haidle's box office record-breaker that debuted last year in the Goodman's smaller Owen Theatre to enormous critical and popular acclaim -- opens on the Albert Theatre mainstage, directed by Anne Kauffman with original company intact, and runs through October 26.

Exactly one year after its world premiere in the Owen Theatre, Noah Haidle's Smokefall, directed by Anne Kauffman, makes its Albert Theatre debut-becoming the third production in Goodman Theatre's 90-year history to transfer from the theater's smaller stage to the mainstage in order for more audiences to experience an acclaimed new play. An exploration of the power and fragility of love through three generations of family life, Smokefall in its debut set the record of highest number of individual tickets sold in Owen Theatre history, and the production topped the 'Best of 2013' lists among major Chicago media. Douglas Smith, Pico Alexander, Lilly Englert & More to Lead MCC Theater's PUNK ROCK

MCC THEATER has announced that film and TV star Douglas Smith, Pico Alexander, Lilly Englert, Lortel Award winner Annie Funke, Five-time Obie winner David Greenspan, Colby Minifie, Will Pullen, and Noah Robbins, will star in the New York premiere of Punk Rock, a new play by Simon Stephens and directed by Trip Cullman. Performances for Punk Rock begin at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on October 29, 2014. MCC Extends Neil LaBute's THE MONEY SHOT

MCC THEATER has announced that the world premiere of MCC Playwright-in-Residence Neil LaBute's new play, The Money Shot, directed by Terry Kinney, has been extended due to popular demand now through October 19, 2014. The production was originally scheduled to close on October 12, 2014. The Money Shot stars Emmy Award nominee Elizabeth Reaser, Golden Globe nominee Callie Thorne, Frederick Weller and Gia Crovatin. Performances began at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on September 4, 2014. An official opening is set for September 22, 2014. Tickets are now on sale. Trustus Theatre to Offer Talk-Backs Throughout 30th Anniversary Season

Trustus Theatre is kicking off its thirtieth anniversary season with Christopher Durang's hilarious "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike," winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play. The show runs through September 27th, with the first audience talk-back of the season following the matinee on September 21st.

Elizabeth Reaser Joins MCC Theater's THE MONEY SHOT; Performances Begin 9/4

Screen and stage star Elizabeth Reaser, best known for her performances in the blockbuster Twilight film franchise and her season-long arc on 'Grey's Anatomy,' will step into its upcoming production of The Money Shot for the departing Heather Graham, who exits the production due to a late-breaking opportunity to begin production on a passion project.

Costume Designer Melissa Schlachtmeyer Passes Away at 41

Melissa Schlachtmeyer, a costume designer for theater, dance and opera, passed away Wednesday August 6th while traveling in Florence, Italy. She was 41. The cause was complications from breast cancer.

DONKEY PUNCH Begins Previews Tonight Off-Broadway at SoHo Playhouse

After a critically acclaimed run in June, Ivy Theatre will transfer their production of Micheline Auger's DONKEY PUNCH to Off-Broadway. Directed by Audrey Alford, previews of this limited engagement begin tonight, July 25 at SoHo Playhouse. Opening night is slated for Thursday, July 31.

Casting and Cameo Groups Announced for Free Public Works' Musical Adaptation of THE WINTER'S TALE

Following last year's acclaimed Public Works production of The Tempest, The Public Theater will continue this community-based initiative this September with a free original musical adaptation of Shakespeare's THE WINTER'S TALE. Featuring more than 200 New Yorkers from all five boroughs performing alongside professional actors and The Public's community partners, Public Works' THE WINTER'S TALE will run for three nights only, September 5-7, at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Free tickets will be distributed, two per person, at 12:00 p.m. on the day of the show at the Delacorte Theater and via the Virtual Ticketing lottery at www.publictheater.org.

Leigh Silverman, Mark Brokaw, Juliette Carillo & More Set for Sundance Institute's Theatre Directors Retreat in France

Sundance Institute and the LUMA Foundation today announced that the two organizations will again collaborate to host the second Sundance Institute | LUMA Foundation Theatre Directors Retreat in Arles, France, July 29 through August 11. The Retreat is one of 10 residential programs hosted by Sundance Institute this summer, collectively representing 15 weeks of support and mentorship for promising independent artists in theatre and film from the United States and around the world.
