Music Director David Lockington and the Pasadena Symphony open the 2016-2017 Singpoli Classics Series with Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto on October 8, 2016 at Pasadena's historic Ambassador Auditorium with matinee and evening performances at 2:00pm and 8:00pm. Audiences will delight in Mendelssohn's most lyrical of violin concertos, book-ended by Brahms' Symphony No. 4 and Andrew Norman's The Great Swiftness to round what Lockington calls "a program of great variety - a wonderful celebration to open our 16-17 season." This exhilarating performance kicks off the continuation of an expanded 6-concert Classics Series on the heels of last year's record-breaking season, which played host to three consecutive sold-out performances.

In their one and only New York recital as a duo this season, violinist Jennifer Koh and pianist Shai Wosner perform a range of repertoire from their nearly ten years of musical collaboration. The program reflects their shared commitment to music of the past and present, comprising three violin sonatas-Beethoven's G major (Op. 96), Debussy's G minor (L. 140), and Faure's A major (Op. 13)-and two contemporary works, Gyorgy Kurtag's Tre Pezzi (1979) and Kaija Saariaho's Tocar (2010). Lincoln Center announces an artist update for the August 2 and 3 Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra concerts at David Geffen Hall. Conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada, who was to make his New York debut and first Festival appearance, has reluctantly withdrawn due to a back problem. For these performances, he will be replaced by Thierry Fischer, who makes his own Festival debut. The program remains the same: Haydn's Symphony No. 59 in A major (“Fire”), and Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K.550, in addition to Mozart's exuberant Piano Concerto No. 25 in C major, K.503, performed by the gifted German pianist Martin Helmchen, who makes his Mostly Mozart Festival debut.

On May 14, Marcus Roberts & The Modern Jazz Generation close out the "Katrina -10 Years On" concert series, dedicated to the spirit of the people who suffered from one of the worst hurricanes in history. In this concert Roberts, famous for his dazzling, virtuosic playing that taps the full range of the jazz piano tradition, unveils The Modern Jazz Generation, an ensemble that features his trio mates - Jason Marsalis on drums and Rodney Jordan on bass - and a number of next generation jazz greats. The musicians are joined by special guest Wycliffe Gordon (tuba), who returns to Koerner Hall after recently appearing with Rene Marie.

Carnegie Hall presents a joint concert by Timo Andres and Gabriel Kahane-composers, performers, and long-time friends-on Thursday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall. The program encompasses music from the past four centuries with vocal and piano works by J.S. Bach, Charles Ives, Benjamin Britten, Jerome Kern, Thomas Ades, and Andrew Norman, along with the New York premieres of new works the composers have written for each other.
