It's not often that adaptions of beloved classics can do justice to the original, but that is precisely what the latest installment of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, directed by Jack O'Brien, has accomplished. The current U.S. tour made a stop at TPAC's Andrew Jackson Hall on Tues., Feb. 14 for the opening night in Nashville - and it did not disappoint. 

American Repertory Theater of WNY is kicking off the second-half of the 2016-17 with two events that are sure to get a great season rolling again. First up on February 26th is the company's annual Mardi Gras fun-raiser to be held at the 330 Amherst Street performance space from 4 pm to 10 pm.

Kyle Riabko - star and creator of the hit West End show Close to You: Bacharach Reimagined and the earlier acclaimed Off-Broadway version What's it All About? Bacharach Reimagined - will return to Joe's Pub at The Public for two solo concerts by popular demand tonight, February 15, 2017 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 9:30 PM. 

TRAVIS WALL and BREAK THE FLOOR PRODUCTIONS are pleased to present the second work by America's hottest dance company, TRAVIS WALL'S SHAPING SOUND. After The Curtain will begin touring March 1, 2017 in Utica, New York and will play 19 cities with a Vancouver premiere on March 25, 2017 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

When German playwright Carl Sternheim set out to write his 1910 work, DIE HOSE, he intended to reflect a focus he knew all too well, the struggle to express and assert oneself within German bourgeois society. The result was the work being initially prevented from opening then later DIE HOSE, and his other works, were completely banned when the Nazis rose to power. All this because of Sternheim's indelicate views on German society.

TRAVIS WALL and BREAK THE FLOOR PRODUCTIONS are pleased to announce additional dates in the 2017 national tour of the new show by America's hottest dance company, Travis Wall's SHAPING SOUND.  After The Curtain will begin touring March 1st in Utica, New York and play eighteen cities and then will resume in June with thirteen additional cities on the tour. The show will return to the Duke Energy Center on June 15th at 8pm.  Tickets go on sale Friday, February 10 at 10am.

The Public Theater announced today that Emmy Award winner Mare Winningham and Dimitri Joseph Moise join the previously announced cast of the world premiere musical Joan of Arc: Into the Fire.

In JACKSON-LAFITTE: A VAUDEVILLE, Four Clowns cleverly re-envisions a probable pre-war encounter leading up to the historical 1814 Battle of New Orleans as a vaudeville skit, possibly and unintentionally drawing parallels to today's political climate. Funt as General Andrew Jackson and Carroll as Captain Jean Lafitte play off each other like in a championship tennis match between Federer and Nadel.

A new casting notice from Actors Equity has revealed that a spring staged reading is of Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge is currently in the works.

In a time when America needs a good laugh, American Repertory Theater of WNY will present Steve Martins hysterical adaptation of the 1910 German farce DIE HOSE by playwright Carl Sternheim, entitled THE UNDERPANTS. Artie Award winning director Jeffrey Coyle (FLOYD COLLINS; BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON) returns to ART/WNY to oversee this romp.
